ABOUT ME

My life for the past two years has been dominated - some what excessively - by the needs, wants, hopes, and dreams of New Orleans public high school students.

That being said, it's been a bit since I've thought this through.

I love to learn, science mostly.

I am less fond of teaching.

I love red wine, a good meal, and something to celebrate (feel I have to do something to earn it)

I will rock climb any day of the week

& latin dance any night of it

I believe I'll be happier nowhere else than working in healthcare

and prefer half-windsor tie knots to full

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Honesty check - I couch surfed with John Riggs on my way to New Orleans after the Teach For America Summer Institute in 2009. It was my first experience CS'ing, and I was v. impressed.

Then teaching happened--and this is my first update in literally two years! I taught in the Upper 9th Ward in New Orleans (Frederick A. Douglass HS, now closed) and in New Orleans East (Sci Academy). My students were brilliant/inspiring, and I learned a great deal.

Now I'm pursuing a Masters in Public Health at Tulane - and I have a much more manageable schedule for surfing! I'd be happy to host starting September 1, 2011
