About Me

I am an undergraduate living in France, studying mathematics, political economics, and music. I'm really into meeting different people and encountering new cultures and languages!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite part about traveling is definitely meeting people, sharing conversation, and learning new things. In this way, Couchsurfing allows me to do all of those things in a very accessible manner. Also, as a student, I know how difficult it can be to travel on a budget, and Couchsurfing presents a very easy way to overcome the high costs involved with traveling.

In my house in France, my flatmates and I accept travelers in almost every situation we can--as we find it is always a pleasant experience to share conversation and different perspectives from different parts of the world. Couchsurfing rocks for this!

Interests

I'm very interested in language learning--I speak fluent English and French, and I am in the process of learning Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.

In terms of hobbies, music takes of the vast majority of my time. I normally play drum set in more of a band setting, but I have played with orchestras and chamber groups as well. I also really love composing music for the piano--mainly jazz, but I'm always down to just jam out.

Music, Movies, and Books

Although my taste in music often depends on my mood, I often find myself listening to orchestra, jazz, and rock music. I really enjoy classical music--and particularly a cool discussion to go with. However, I'm also really into rap and hip hop, though mainly East Coast stuff like Slum Village and Nice&Smooth.

In terms of movies, I get down with movies that mess with my mind (at least a little bit) like Donnie Darko, Inception, and 2001: A Space Odyssey, amongst many others.

I currently have two favorite books: American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis, and The Master and Margerita by Mikhail Bukgakov. I love reading, and I plan on bringing a few books with me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I organized a TEDx conference in Reims, France

I moved abroad to France on a whim! Ask me how it went! (It went okay)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some French or teach you how to drum! I'm very interested in discussing political, philosophical, and mathematical ideas!
