About Me

I am a young german who loves to travel, visit places and meet new people. Being an open-minded and creative person I do my best enjoying everything I do wherever I am.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've already been hosted by locals during a student exchange in China and loved to experience the country through a locals eyes.
But I first came across Couchsurfing while I was travelling through Italy with a friend and taking the opportunity to couchsurf was definitely the best decision we made during our Italy travel. I was completely overwhelmed by the joy of staying with a local and meeting other locals and travellers!

There are many different ways to travel but CS offers the opportunity to completely dive into a new culture and lifestyle without the necessity of sightseeing tours and all the touristy activities actually preventing from experiencing a country itself! It is all about the people, even if there is an impressive construction like the Eiffel tower, instead of following the flow of blind camera and selfie-stick armed masses, I'd always prefer to hear a locals thoughts on living in a place that's popular in tourism and get some secret recommendation on where to get some authentic impressions together!

Interests

I love culture in all its aspects, so whenever I am confronted with anyhting new I am compelled by my discovery. I love cinema, visiting art exhibitions, walking around places and meeting new people that I can exchange my cultural experiences with.

Food is not just an interest but a passion for me. So I do my best to try as many local dishes as I can, but being a vegan I also want to make sure I feel comfortable with the food I want to enjoy.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a culture person so there would be too much to make a list.

The music I listen to could be summarized to indie, rock, jazz, soul, classical music, techno, and so on, I simply like music and am really happy for every chance to get to know new artists and genres. Music is such a diverse field!

It is the same with books: I like Capote, Murakami, Kafka, Queneau, and many many more. To me it is always exciting to walk around flea markets or used-books-shops and discover a new promising author or simply to get recommendations and share my reading impressions.

I simply love movies! shorts, arthouse, black-and-white silent classics, documentaries, ...
Some of my favourite directors are: Charlie Chaplin, Wes Anderson, Hitchcock, Kubrick, Godard, Antonioni, Wim Wenders, Almodovar, ...

I simply love creativity so every expression of thoughts, critique, ideas or emotions - not just limited to music, books and movies but culture itself - feed my mind and soul.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've once been to Rarotonga which to me seemed to be paradise. But that one amazing thing to have seen or done might simply be living a free life as an open-minded person having the possibility to dive into a new culture, to meet new people and visit places just waiting right in front of you.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess there is not much I can teach except from being an open-minded person with all kinds of interests to discuss any subject and be excited about whatever is going to happen next.

Being open for everything there is a lot for me to learn, so if there's anything you could teach me, I would be more than happy to get the opportunity to extend my skills and knowledge by what matters to you.

So I share as much as I can, whether it's food, thoughts and ideas or new adventures. Altogether I think this is what CS is about: Share your couch, impressions on your home's culture, travelling experiences, food culture and thoughts on life. If you don't have the free time to spend one hour after another talking and discussing the meaning of life that's fine, but I think it is necessary to have an open-minded base for hosting and being a guest in a social way :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I might have some hidden talent I haven't discovered yet, but for now I love cooking/baking, chatting, exploring the city or nature or simply having a relaxed time together. I simply like to share :)
