About Me

Hi there :) I'm Jame and I guess i'd describe myself as a travel loving, easy going (slightly pasty) Brit.
I'm pretty easy going. Like to have a good laugh and enjoy meeting people of all ethnicities and cultures.
I'm a big movie buff and music is a major love also along with cooking (I'm a real foodie), hiking and anything acting/drama/performing arts etc.

My first travelling adventure was around South East Asia, Australia and Fiji back in 2010. I didn't do the uni thing so that was my first experience of leaving home.
After returning home I set up my own business but over the last 5 years realised it wasn't doing it for me. To be honest I'm still not 100% what I want to do as a career. I've still got time right? :)
Back in 2012 I met the love of my life, my now fiancé, Gabrielle(Gabby's no stranger to couch surfing and is as excited as I am to get back into it. - https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/gabriellelaura).

Since we met, we've shared our love of travel as best we could whilst working full time. We've now left our jobs recently to set off on a new adventure.

Gabby and I have a travel blog which although has been a little abandoned over the last year, gives a good look into our previous travels individually before we met and together so feel free to check it out - www.theglobewanderers.com.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Gabby and I have set off on an epic European road trip! Gabby has couch surfed before but this will be my first time! So excited!!
We've rented a van (Yoda) in the UK and are heading around Europe for 9 weeks exploring as much as we can and taking in all the sights, sounds, tastes and beauty of the continent. I can't wait to try meet as many locals as possible so our experience in Europe is an honest and true to the countries we visit.
Gabby has been telling me all her stories of the amazing people she's met by couchsurfing and I can't wait to have some stories of my own to tell :)
Once we return home, we're due to get married in September 2017 `- unless we have one too many driving domestics that is ;) - and then head off East backpacking across many more countries before we return home, settle and host couchsurfers ourselves :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Although I was very proud to start my own business... and equally as proud to close it, I think I'd say my first scuba dive was a pretty amazing thing. I was always fearful of the ocean (still cautious) and a little claustrophobic, but once I finally got down beneath the surface it really gave me a new first for life and a future passion of sea life.
Another contender would be spending time with kids at a small school on a remote island in Fiji. That was a really special hour.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn new things from new friends. Be it interesting trivia, skills, stories of their lives or just some useless facts, it's all interesting to me.
I hope I could teach a few things to others too. From manual skills to recipes and trivia. I love a good debate too. I'ts always interesting to hear peoples opinions on the meaning of life, religion, politics and philosophy.

Travel stories and general life experience is always an interesting topic which can bring about teaching, learning and sharing.
Everyone has an amazing story to tell. It's always very cool and sometimes even an honour when they choose to share it with you.
Sharing experiences and stories is always really nostalgic. Most of my favourite memories are because I can associate the memory with a face.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a bit of a clean freak so hopefully I can share the joy I get from having a clean and tidy home.... whilst being an easy house guest I hope.
You can plonk me in a kitchen to cook, in the laundry room to wash and iron or outside to sink my teeth into a little manual labour. Alternatively I'd happily go on a long walk/hike, drive or quest if you're feeling really adventurous.... the holy grail may still be out there, or failing that, a bar would do just as nicely :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Belgium, Cambodia, Fiji, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Laos, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, United States, Viet Nam, Wales
