About Me

I reckon I'm a pretty easy going guy, although I'm quite on it with personal hygiene (I don't mind getting dirty at all, I just hate staying dirty!). I'm very polite and always try to be as friendly and helpful to people as possible. I'm not the sportiest person in the world, but I like a bit of a kick around (soccer) and used to play rugby until I got a bit of a back injury as a teenager.

I've spent the past few years of my life intermittently working in various jobs, from clothes retail to finance and trying to work out what I want from life. I've tried no less than three different university courses - business (realised I didn't need a degree to make a start-up), English teaching (really not that fond British teenagers!), and Psychology; which I love and intend to complete via open university).

Before I finish my university course by correspondence I decide to rent out my flat and explore Australia with my girlfriend Emily for a few months followed by a haphazard tour of Asia by myself, both of which I'm really looking forward to!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm pretty confident the best way to experience a place is to meet and talk to locals and see what they have to say about their city, as a nice guy I'm also thinking I'd quite like to do the same for other people when I go back home! Obviously it's cheaper to couchsurf, but equally if I'm in someone's home I'd feel awkward not helping out around the house a lot or whatever needs to be done!

Interests

I love football (soccer), and support Sheffield United and Newcastle. I do some gardening in Sheffield and enjoy movies, video games, walking and going out for drinks with my mates. I've done quite a lot of decorating and DIY, which I also like, as well as comedy nights and the odd gig.

I also love nice coffee and real ales.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was younger I was into (looking back on it now) some pretty dubious rock music, but as I've grown older my tastes are much broader, and I can appreciate almost any type of music, from house to d'n'b, a bit of pop music, classical music and especially jazz, I love jazz!

I realllly enjoy comedy movies, particularly Will Ferrell movies (semi-pro, anchorman, the other guys). But to be honest I generally appreciate any sort of good movie!

I used to read a lot when I was younger, mainly nerdy type books like the lord of the rings, however I don't read as much as I used to, and when I do read it tends to be non fiction books like Bill Bryson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm quite an enthusiastic, easily pleased guy and tend to label a lot of things as being 'amazing'. The thing I'm most proud of though was making sure me, my little sister and our grandparent's were alright following the death of my mother, my sister has turned out really well, and I kinda hope I have too!

Teach, Learn, Share

Due to my varied educational background I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none! I like to think I have lots of little bits, pieces and factoids to teach and share, and I'm always listening and on the look out for extra titbits worth committing to memory!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Enthusiasm, a willingness to help out, a flexible nature and hopefully a good time!
