Overview
About Me
Semi-itinerant grad student, studying Chinese foreign affairs.* My idea of perfection is a sunny day, a view of water (ocean, lake, bay, whatever), a pot of tea, and a good book. Alternately, throw in a bottle of something stronger and old friends.
*Impact of Chinese foreign aid in Africa and whether its development assistance conforms to a notion of "responsible development - if you're really that interested.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
Buddenbrooks, the "Patrick Melrose" novels, Rise and Fall of Great Powers, Mists of Avalon, Game of Thrones, and the Silmarillion should be sufficient for highlighting my tastes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'll give two:
1) Hours of pints and banter with the "Auld Brigade" in St Andrews in a perfect, somewhat bright evening twilight...at 10:30 PM.
2) Enjoying a pot of tea along the main river in central Singapore - surveying the wonder of its wealth: skyscrapers soaring immediately behind riverside townhouses well over 100 years old.
