About Me

Howdy! I am currently accepting guests, but may not be available at all times to host.

I'm a designer/photographer from Oklahoma. My work: http://www.JamesHarber.com

My travel photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jamesharber/

Whether guests are passing through or looking to explore an area, it's amazing when someone opens up their home to perfect strangers. The spirit of the community is amazing and it's a great way to give back and offer hospitality in a world that, at times, feels so closed off.

Personality-wise, I'm a happy, relaxed individual with a sense of humor. I fall somewhere between a clean, organized business owner who hits deadlines and someone who can live out of a car (or backpack) traveling for weeks at a time.

I’ve had a pretty diverse life up to this point. I try to be as authentic with people as possible and can usually find common ground with folks from all background, beliefs and cultures. People are what interest me the most. I’d rather have a life of interesting experiences than a comfortable one. I like to know what makes folks tick, their passions, their fears, etc. You would probably describe me as an open book and deep thinker, but I’m also fluent in potty humor, dick jokes and don’t take myself seriously.

I'm gay, I grew up in the country, was homeschooled K-12 and raised very religious. Growing up in such a small environment sparked an interest in seeing life and culture beyond how I was raised. It also taught me to be a little skeptic about life, but I stay close to my country roots and spend most of my time with my large family here in Oklahoma.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To give back and meet people from different cultures

Interests

Holy Hannah, I don't know where to start so here are the highlights:
- Sports, sports, sports (everything except Cricket and Futball like a typical, sad American)
- Photography
- Science
- Traveling (this one is probably obvious)
- Float tanks and other transcendent-inducing mediums
- Board games (I have a library) and video games
- Gym/Running/Yoga
- Music/Festivals

Music, Movies, and Books

Current Books:
Sex at Dawn
Harry Potter

Movies:
Spun
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
There Will Be Blood

Music:
- Animal Collective (all albums)
- Broken Social Scene
- The Antlers

I have a 100GB music library and am constantly on Spotify. I go to several music festivals each year and try to keep a hand on the local scene, as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I officiated my Mom and my Sister's wedding ceremonies. Don't worry, these were separate weddings. Only cousins can get married in Oklahoma ;)

I dropped out of college and started a business in my late teens. I've been self-employed since 2007

Teach, Learn, Share

What I Can Share with Hosts
