I am a writer, teacher, and martial artist. I currently live in La Paz, Bolivia, where I teach English, aikido, and karate. I have listed my dojo website as my personal site, but I also have a Facebook page: www.facebook.com/jamie.huss. I will accept a friend request from anyone who considers offering me a couch to sleep on. :)
I study mysticism, physics, psychology, anthropology, ancient history, linguistics, and literature. I think the key to being a human being in this universe lies somewhere among those disciplines.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hope to use Couchsurfing while I travel around South America. I live alone in a nice, two-bedroom apartment in Calacoto, San Miguel, the best neighborhood in La Paz, and I'm happy to offer the extra space to fellow travelers.
As a host, Couchsurfing has been great. I have had some very nice guests and made some new friends. I look forward to meeting more people and making more friends.
As a guest, Couchsurfing has been very disappointing. I have offered my home to many people and treated them with as much hospitality as I could, and yet not one person has accepted a request from me in three years. NOT ONE.
I study and practice martial arts. I write poetry and novels - my next book, a YA novel, will be released in 2016. I like to dine on local food; I like to hike and explore; I like to go out for drinks (but I'm not a big partier, by any means). I like to meet people from other countries and cultures.

Music, Movies, and Books
I mostly like the classics of English literaure as regards fiction; I more often read nonfiction - mostly books on physics, mysticism, and psychology. I am picky about movies - I taught film criticism and have dabbled in screenplay writing for years, so I tend to be overly critical. My tastes in music are ecclectic, but selective. I like almost every genre, but only a small percentage of popular music is quality, in my opinion.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I swam with sting rays in Grand Cayman. Twice!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have studied literature, philosophy, and martial arts for almost three decades. I have much to teach and much to learn.
