ABOUT ME

We are Jim and Carol, who work together running a non-profit family mediation program that helps parents work out conflicts over child custody.
We love Love travel, hiking, meeting, and talking with interesting people. Open minded, yet have our own opinions. Outlook on life is that of a Taoist, not dogmatic, but moral; not rigid, but strive to live within a code of honorable conduct towards self, others, and the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Offer space as available (children at home part-time), have good knowledge of the eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina mountains for hiking, backpacking, rock climbing and camping.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Traveled across Great Britain and Ireland. We stayed with folks met on the ferry to the Orkneys and spent two nights in the manager's house of an old distillery as we toured the ancient sites on the island. It may not be in the arctic circle, but you can see it from there.
Stayed with outfitters in Baniff-no couch, bag on the floor, but great climbing.

The East Tennessee area is just getting into CS and we have havea couple of nice meetings.

Interests

wide range, good conversation, taking pictures, traveling in our Mini with the top down, learning about other cultures and history, seeing the world. have traveled all over the US and Canada, in the UK and Ireland, Germany, Italy, Holland, Spain, Mexico, and the Caribbean

Music, Movies, and Books

Varied, focus is more on quality than type. histories, mysteries, and a good thriller, alternative views for books. MASH, the Matrix, They Might Be Gods, The Gods Must Be Crazy,
Music runs from Celtic to Classical, 70 rock to Green day and Flogging Molly, and a few crooners

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The moon over the mid Atlantic in winter during a crossing on a merchant ship, been pushed through the water by a pair of dolphins, watched the sun rise in the mountains after a blizzard buried one side of the tent, and the smile of many wonderful people (young and old) in many climes and places.

Teach, Learn, Share

Conflict Resolution, tips on photography (have taught and earned living as a photographer) Willing to share craic, as the Irish say. nothing better than a good night of it with a pint and friends. Know a couple of pubs in the area that "fit comfortably around the shoulders"
