Hey! I'm a graduate student at UT Austin studying advertising and data analytics. I'm open minded, and have always believed that everyone in the world is an expert in something that I know nothing about. I grew up in Houston, but have lived in Dallas, Celle (small town near Hannover in central Germany), and NYC (specifically in the Bronx) before moving to Austin last fall.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I made this profile a few years ago and promptly forgot about it, but decided to revive my account as a way to meet people during a 6-week solo trip I'm taking through southeast Asia this summer. Making genuine connections with interesting people and gaining new perspectives is my favorite part of traveling, and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of new people while I'm in Asia.

When I get back I'd love to return the favor and host other travelers, and I look forward to meeting up with the couchsurfing community in Austin this fall!

Music:

I'm into rock, indie rock, underground hip hop, sad singer-songwriter stuff, and deep house. Some of my favorites are: Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, The Kills, Van Halen, Pink Floyd, Tedeschi Trucks Band, ASAP Mob, Queens of the Stone Age, Paul Kalkbrenner, Soccer Mommy, David August, Parker Millsap, King Princess, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, The Strokes, Dr. Dog, badbadnotgood, and Leon Bridges.

Movies/TV:

I have a special place in my heart for cult classic bad movies. My all-time favorite movie is The Room, and I've seen it hundreds of times in theaters. My other favorites include: Black Mirror, The Twilight Zone, Mad Men, Shaun of the Dead, The Lives of Others, Westworld, Anything by Anthony Bourdain, Fight Club, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Books:

I don't read as much as I should and am trying to get back into reading. My favorite authors are Michael Gladwell, Michael Lewis, Nick Hornby, Kurt Vonnegut, and Ray Bradbury.
