About Me

Lately I can't get a line from a Mason Jennings song out of my head: "Life has no limits, if we're not afraid to jump in it." That's the attitude I try to have from day to day, if I don't get distracted by the every-dayness of it all.

Everything reminds me of a song and I'll randomly start singing.
My head is like a radio that is constantly on, I hate it when my head radio gets stuck on repeat, I like it when it's on shuffle.

I don't want my life to be like a book that I always heard was really good but never got around to reading, thinking I would always have time later on. My main life goal is to have smile wrinkles when I get old. I am interested in living for a living.

I play music and jam as often as I can with as many people as I can.

I am learning to swing dance, Lindy Hop.

I've been getting into meditation/mindfulness. The Headspace app is amazing!

I am trying to learn Danish, finally. If you speak, or would like to learn, I would love a learning buddy.

I don't believe in concrete reality or absolute truth and I'm completely comfortable with that, it doesn't at all affect my ability to determine what is right and wrong and find meaning in my life.

Fairness is a big deal to me, including LGBT rights, gender issues, economic issues and issues of poverty, and atheist awareness.

Gender, sexuality, and relationships; especially as constructs and how to break out of them and not feel the pressure of having to define one's self-identity like filling out a questionnaire and proving that you actually belong in that box.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new and interesting people and get a unique perspective on the places I travel to. I'm interested in making connections and and having experiences I'll never forget.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I've been on a horror kick - Incarnate, Dr. Sleep, Carrion Comfort, Ghost Story, Rebecca. Just started house of leaves again, one of my all time favorites. I also spend probably too much time reading posts on everydayfeminism.com.

Movies: I kind of have a thing for horror movies. I also love documentaries and foreign films and I guess lots of stuff.

Shows: I try to keep up with The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, and Game of Thrones. I'm into Criminal Minds lately. Brit coms are cool. Ash vs. Evil Dead is amazing!

Music: Can't get enough Avett Brothers, I've gotten into the Cactus Blossoms too, they're a great local band. I recently got satellite radio in my car and have been stuck on classic country, 50's pop, 90's alternative, and punk rock. Just went to Riot Fest and saw some of my favorite bands. Tony Sly is one of my favorite song writers, and so is Roy Orbison. God, I like everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a summer in Denali Alaska playing guitar in a jazz quartet.

Happy to teach a bit of guitar, I have over 10 years teaching experience :)
