About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the places I have never been, to meet the people of the world and create lifetime friendships along the way.

ABOUT ME

Hello fellow CSurfers. My name is Richmond from Sacramento CA. My friends know me as a very honest, loyal, dependable, and responsible person. I am a nurse by profession so I don't usually get scared of blood unless the blood is coming out from me :-) I like kayaking, biking, rafting, snorkeling, travelling, eating different foods (I eat anything as long as it is cooked and my host also eats the food lol). I am into anything that will make my neurons work such as friendly debates and discussion of any topic in the universe. I am a very nice person with a big heart. I do not smoke, drink socially, and do not use any illicit drugs. I am a clean person but can get dirty when situations call for it. The three items I can't live with when I travel are deodorant, toothbrush and clean underwear :-). When I travel, my motto is "when you are in Rome, do what the Romans do", which means that as much as possible I try to blend like the locals of the place I am visiting. I am looking forward to surf your couch or host you if ever you visit the capital of California. Please let me know what is the estimated time of your arrival. If you are arriving after 12 midnight, I may not be able to host you because I have work early on weekdays. (Friday and Saturday nights are okay)

PHILOSOPHY

The more material things we possess, the less happy we become. Happiness is not ready made, it comes from our own actions- His Holliness, the Dalai Lama.
Live life to the fullest and to live one day at a time. I work hard and play harder :-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate CS by offering my small house to fellow couchsurfers or meet them for coffee or drinks. It is not only offering the Csurfers a roof on their head but also knowing their culture and sharing information, and hopefully to build a better and peaceful planet one person at a time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I already hosted several couchsurfers. I am looking forward to host more Csurfers in the future.

Interests

I have a wide variety of interests including but not limited to kayaking, rafting, snorkeling, scuba diving (not certified but planning to), eating, reading, strolling, biking, hiking, reading, exploring the nature, going to museums, and many more. I also like to cook and I want to learn how to cook differnt cuisines from all over the world. It would be nice to have recipe exchange with my guest/host.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like any movies as long as is not very scary or those with nonsense killing. I enjoy documentary, science and nature, as well as some animated movies. I like to listen to classical and pop music. I enjoy many kind of music especially American Pop Music- Maroon Five, Katy Perry, etc. I like to read fiction and non fiction books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I stayed in a very isolated island with no electricity and no potable water. I lived with the locals like a true Islander. I ate what they ate, and got drunk with a locally fermented wine. This experience is a very rewarding and learning experience for me. It made me grateful for those small conveniences in life that I tend to ignore. I stayed there for a week and came back to US as a better person.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a good cook. I am not a native of Africa but I can cook excellent some African dish. I also know how to cook well known cuisines from the Philippines such as adobo, pancit, and spring roll. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD OR DISH? Your chances of getting accepted to surf my place will increase if you answer this question with your couch surfing request. I want to learn foreign language as well. I think German as well as Chinese is a fascinating language to learn.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can show you around Sacramento if I have time, or we can crash a Filipino party if there is an event going on. I can also show you how to cook traditional Filipino Dishes.
