Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
live life before I die, meet some cool people along the way
ABOUT ME
James: I am a full time student originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I come from a large family of eight children and am therefore very familiar with living in reduced spaces, which I think will help to couchsurf. Just finished my undergrad degree and starting a law degree in the fall, so need to see and do some stuff before then. Played (Canadian) football by whole life including university. Love learning about different cultures, meeting great people. Trying to live life to the fullest, just not sure how to do that yet
Amanda: I come from a blended family from rural Nova Scotia, I grew up on a blueberry farm, with tons of cousins around me. I grew up playing sports, mainly figure skating until 14 then I traded that in for a few high school sports. I continued on in that field as an athletic therapist during undergrad, for the uni football team where I met James. After undergrad, I started medical school on this amazing island called Saba, in the Netherlands-Antilles, which hosts an international medical school. Right now, I have 1.5 years left! I arranged clinical rotations in the UK for the summer, with a few breaks inbetween to travel around Europe with ol James who was able to come over too.
PHILOSOPHY
Success is relative: its what you can make of the mess you have made of things
Life is what happens when you're making other plans
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Just new to this network, but we definitely want to add to the spirit of hospitality that this network is bringing back. Will become a host when we return home to Nova Scotia, and hopefully encouraging our friends to do the same.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None. This is very new to me (as far as this network goes). I have stayed on couches in university, but never this far from home.
Interests
James: Learning new things. History. The Arts. Politics. Avid sports fan, mostly American football, hockey and basketball, but love seeing the different sports culture of Europe. Running. Hiking. Outdoors. Inner growth. Books. Finding things funny in all places I go and things I do.
Amanda: I love learning about new cultures...and experiencing them through their food and wine. I love to cook, and use any opportunity to increase my knowledge for that field. I've always wanted to be a physician, and am very greatful that my medical education has been so rewarding and interesting thus far. However, friends and family have always been my greatest interest.
