Traveling
Where am I from?
(The United States, but I never know which one I identify with most because...)
By the time I was 19 I had moved around a good bit, living in Charleston_South Carolina, Boston_Massachusetts, Sugar Land_Texas, Birmingham_Alabama, back-to-the actual city of Houston_Texas (not the suburbs like Sugar Land), and Boulder_Colorado. Since then I've lived in Santiago, Chile and I've been in Prague, Czechia now for 15 months.
(I usually just mention that I went to university in Colorado and moved to California afterwards.)
I like spicy food, pho bo, sushi, chicken tikki massalla, gluten-free pancake mix w/milk when I'm too lazy to go for groceries, meatballs. There was another Vietnamese dish I had the other day too that was really good too, I wish I could remember the name... bummer, sorry.
It appears I Phở Gà.
A bit of my travels...
I've been to at least 35 of the United States and in the past 18 months I've managed to put 18 countries' worth of stamps in my passport : D I love it.
Europe makes the game easy, but a few of those stamps came from South America as well.
One that I really cherish came from Machu Picchu - and it's really pretty - but I honestly don't remember where or how I got it, or what type of gringo tax I probably paid for it - I just remember getting blind-sided by mosquitos. (Alaska and Torres del Paine in Chile are also cool travel destinations with a surprising amount of mosquitos just fyi.)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on couchsurfing because I like to spend my savings on the experience when I travel, not so much the housing. I'm not that point in my life where my income is super-disposable, so if I can stay somewhere inexpensive, cool - if I can stay somewhere free - great! I'd be happy to take you out to dinner or whatever you'd like.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've had two hole-in-ones and they were both in tournaments so that's something I'm really proud of.
Teach, Learn, Share
I went to the University of Colorado at Boulder where I studied geographic information systems and satellite imaging, but now I teach English. I plan on going back to grad school in the fall to study marketing, so in general I like discussing psychology things.
(Next time you're in the grocery store, check out the cereal box characters on the children's cereals - all of their eyes are looking down! it's eerie almost, but the idea is that little kids will look up and see the friendly character and want that box of cereal.) m really feeling it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Stories!
I dove in Cozumel, Mexico with GIANT eagle rays and friendly nurse & lemon sharks. super cool.
On my first hole in one I was 12 in a tournament in Houston, TX in JULY, so it was close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit (40 Centigrade). There wasn't enough drinking water on the course and I actually fainted on the 14th hole and had a minor heat stroke so I didn't get to finish the round : / but it makes for an interesting ice breaker.
I can share a bottle of wine or some ciders with you over dinner! Otherwise my cooking is limited to fish, chicken, veggies, and whatever remains from a sushi-making course I took in Santiago over a year ago.
