Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am originally from Calgary, Canada, but am now living in York, UK!
I quit my job in Canada for the opportunity to live in Europe. Travelling has always been a passion of mine, but it was difficult (and expensive!) to travel outside of Canada frequently. By living in the UK I’ve gained a chance to regularly explore Europe: new cultures, landscapes, experiences, and most importantly.. meet new people! I love meeting locals when I’m visiting a new city, and getting advice on "hidden gems" in the area. I always try to travel like I'm not a tourist! (Even if the backpack and the language barrier gives it away)
So far couchsurfing has provided me with amazing experiences by giving me the chance to meet up with fellow travellers, and with locals from the area. Unfortunately my flat is too small to host anyone at the moment, but I’m always available to meet up and explore more of York together!

Although I am not religious, I am a firm believer in treating each other with kindness and respect, and practice the philosophy of “pay-it-forward”. You never know the true impact a small act of kindness can create.
