About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am looking to expand my universal horizons through shared experience with amazing people. At the moment I'm traveling New Zealand on a budget through the Working Holiday Visa, and I have a bus pass as my main means for transportation. I haven't found any work here yet, but I will be hoping to settle down in one town for about a month after the New Year. Maybe you can help me learn my way around your town?

ABOUT ME

I've been bouncing around the U.S. and a few other countries for about the last 10 years. I prefer to have a home base established in one area to do my traveling and exploring out from there. It's nice to know you have something stable to return to, and for me that's Alaska these days. If you're ever in the area during our summer months, don't hesitate to reach out! I love making new friends and having exciting conversations.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am currently seeking short-term places to stay between trips around the North and South Islands of New Zealand. I've done some backpacker hostels, some WWOOFing, some camping, and would love to try couchsurfing here. I also might be looking for a secure, out of the way place to store a backpack for a bit to lighten my load.

Interests

I love everything related to the outdoors. If it it involves fresh air, sunshine, mountains, forests, rivers, the ocean, or anything outside of the house, you can count me in. I'd love to learn about your town from an insider's perspective, as it always feels a bit strange being so new to a local scene and culture. I've been existing outside my comfort zone during this most recent trip, as I've never traveled solo for this long, and it takes a bit of adjustment to fully enjoy it. In the States, I'm spoiled by having my own very capable vehicle so traveling by bus has also been a learning experience. If you're looking for a companion for some remote activity, I'm very highly qualified in remote medicine (Wilderness EMT) and can provide gas money to and from areas that are a bit off the beaten path. For the time being, I've chosen not to purchase my own car for the sake of meeting more people and being more social as I travel from town to town.
