About Me

The gift of happiness has always been my passion in life. From a young age I discovered that food was directly linked with our internal feelings.

Traveling around the world and training at some of the most renowned Michelin star restaurants in Spain, New York, and Japan gave me a truly global perspective of not only the flavors of cuisine, but most importantly the culture. Food is not just a source of nourishment. It is the very groundwork of creativity, connection, and self expression.

I have never been afraid of being “untraditional” and always asking why. I kept jobs for a short amount of time because I realized that travel and connecting with humans, rather than being locked in a box, was the key to my mental sanity. What I unlocked was the key to flavor and experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love experiencing a culture in its truest form. For me people and food are the two things that define it most. Couch surfing allows me to see the world in ways I would normally not be able to. Although I haven't used it that much, I look forward to new experiences with amazing people! I finally have a home that I am able to share and allows other to stay comfortably in a cool city.

Interesting fact: I first signed up for couch surfing because my friend was a chef for them. I used to go to their parties in san francisco when it was just a start up.

Interests

Most recently I have been putting on gastronomic experiences in Mexico consisting of 8-10 courses, beverage pairing, dj, photographer, and some kind of performance all hidden away in a secret jungle or cave location for example. I have recently moved to the Netherlands and will begin to put on these type of underground dinners here. Of course I take advantage of the crazy good music scene here along with art. I always enjoy getting lost in the canals as you never so where a beautiful photo opportunity is!

My next big adventure will be the yearly pilgrimage to burning man. I volunteer as a chef cooking badass meals for the emergency services crew!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to watch movies from the 40's-90's. The stories are all so interesting and I love the way they are shot with such amazing sound tracks. They just did it right back that. I do like documentaries as well and comedies. I haven't actually gone to the movie theaters in a long time though.

Music is all over the place, but lately I've been getting into afro-beats. Lots of world music, house, latin, funky, jazz, piano. I'm more than happy to exchange music knowledge!

Lately I'm reading a rather long book about the music business, but mostly I like to read online articles about the world, science, and of course food!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite places in the world is the hot spring in mammoth lakes, california. There is one particular one that my family and I always go to. It is by far one of the most beautiful places and the water is always warm and welcoming.

An amazing thing I have done was climb Mt. Fuji at night by myself. Was a pretty interesting experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely share some cooking skills and my knowledge of food, travel, music, and whatever else I can about the city.

Always happy to learn about different cultures and opinions especially with philosophy and art!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a nice big couch that you can sleep on. Its in the living room which attaches to the kitchen, but the door can close for privacy. I have a big kitchen and all the gadgets for cooking so happy to share anything with you. There is also a washing machine which you are welcome to use!

My schedule is a bit all over the place right now as I am traveling a bunch for the summer. Send me a message though and if I'm in town more than happy to host. My schedule in Barcelona varies, but if I'm free more than happy to play tour guide or at least give you some spots to check out!

Any other questions just shoot me a message
