About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See and experience what I can, to see how other people live their lives and learn what I can.

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Jameel, a born and bred Mancunian from England. After finishing high school I had an urge to go out and get some life experience, so I left home at 17 as a volunteer, traveled around. I aim to continue doing so while going to college, travelling between holidays and just and experience whatever I can!

I have no real idea how to write an introduction about myself, it's like writing a profile on a resume, but you don't get a job, you get to meet people. Either way googling the answer does not help.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live with an accurate relationship between thought & action.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've met a few people through Couchsurfing and have generally had a good time doing so.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met someone in Guatemala through Couchsurfing which turned out to be interesting to describe it best, it was a strange, great, new experience.

Since Guatemala, I couch surfed around New York and it was amazing. I did trip of 6 weeks between the Caribbean and California and didn't pay for a single night of accommodation, the good of humans is something you don't see enough and I'm grateful to seen as much as I have.

I'm based in Glasgow but in Berlin for a research placement.

I would like to have Couchsurfing experiences that keep giving new, great experiences and to share some of my life with some new people and to be a part of someone else's even if it be for a short time, in a vague memory, experiences can be formed by the simplest interactions between people.

Interests

Music is a huge interest for me, it always has been and I can't really see it changing. I have some music I love that I'm proud of and some that I don't, mostly it's folk, hip hop, funk, synth, R&B but it's probably easier to ask me who I'm listening to at the moment

I love cycling, it's been part of my life as I was growing up and can't really imagine life without it (it makes going travelling really hard) but I see it as the way forward for health, transport, community the benefits are endless.

I'm also big fan of coffee & cooking, the love for both came from my travels to Central America where I was introduced to flavours, tastes and smells that hooked me and see the whole process as chemical, which only fuels my studies.

Really into walks at the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

In terms of music I have quite a big range and it's temperamental. But I use Spotify and if you are so inclined I can share my playlists. Currently listening to a lot of Sun Kil Moon, Belle & Sebastian, Talking Heads, Bonobo and many more. But also TOPS, Blood Orange and Kanye, Solange and Frank Ocean

Don't watch much TV or movies but trying to read more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I say moving to Honduras at 17, showed me so many things and gave me experiences I'll never forget, and got me in some situations that I'd never dreamed like climbing up coconut trees with my kindergarden class and drinking on the coconuts on the beach for an English lesson.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've learnt that experiences are valuable from the worst ones to the best. I attract a lot of challenging situations and come out the other side being great! I enjoy the challenge. Consequently I have some great stories to tell, some great food to cook and happy to bring anything from the last country I was in.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I have some unique outlooks and stories to share, I also have tendency to help in anyway I can - I like doing what I can to help someone out.
