About Me
Hi there! My name's Jan. I'm a 28 year old, living in Philadelphia, PA. I grew up in the Philippines until I was about 22, and moved to to the US.
I have been a flight attendant for a major airline here for almost 6 years.
I am a pretty chill guy. I consider myself a jack of all trades lol I have a ton of interests, from music, to the arts, to travel, to making Youtube content, and so much more. Right now, I am very interested in learning how to play the guitar. I sing A LOT haha so if you play, let's jam!
I love traveling and exploring new places. I love learning about new culture and how other people in different parts of the world go about their day to day lives.
My idea of fun is being around good people. I have this adventurous side to me that constantly needs feeding. I am really chill, and I would try anything at least once. I like pushing myself to do something out of my comfort zone.
I'm a nice guy overall. I love my family (I come from a really big one haha). I love life!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I travel, I love my experience similar to that of the locals. Discovering other people's culture, and actually being a part of it, to me, is such a beautiful thing.
I also would love to meet new people, who will hopefully become good friends with.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
Music literally is my fuel. I listen to music all day.
I love to sing too. I really want to learn how to play the guitar. I just got to find time for it really due to the nature of my work.
My favorite artist would have to be Amy Winehouse. Such an amazing talent and I just love everything about her. I mainly listen to popular music but I also love me some blues and jazz music.
Movies:
Hands down Call Me By Your Name by Luca Guadagnino. Such an epic film. Hauntingly beautiful.
The Before trilogy is also amazing though I have yet to see the third one.
And then one movie that I could watch over and over again, and yes I already have lol is The Devil Wears Prada hahaha
Books:
I used to be so bad at this
I would buy books, mainly because I like the cover design and just not finish reading it lol
But lately, going in my late twenties, I try to commit to reading again.
As of the moment, I am reading Eat, Pray, Love and I also just got The Alchemist, and Call Me By Your Name.
My favorite book so far and one that really made a huge impact in my life is Goodbye, Things by Fumio Sasaki. It's a book about minimalism and it's life-changing. I highly recommend it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It was my last flight for the day before heading home and when I got out of the plane, I saw one of my passengers at the gate and she looked worried. Earlier inflight while serving her, I learned she didn't speak any English.
I offered to help and walked with her to baggage claim, helped her get a hold of her relatives picking her up, and waited with her until she's with them.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach:
mmm. I am quite good at editing videos. So if you are interested in starting a Youtube channel, I can totally help you out. I am not a pro, but I also have an eye for photography. I know 2 languages and a dialect. I can teach you some Filipino and Cebuano.
Learn:
I'm very interested in learning about the culture and traditions of a certain place that I visit. My dad was a history major so I think that part of him is in me also. I love learning about the history, the backstory of a place, or a statue, or a painting, or even a person. I want to learn about the day to day living of the locals. Maybe learn how to cook local dishes. I love cooking but I haven't been doing much of it lately so learning how to cook your way, would be so awesome as well!
Other than that, I really want to learn how to play the guitar again. So if you play, maybe you can teach me a little bit :)
Share:
I love sharing my own experiences and my stories. Growing up in the Philippines, and living in the US for 7 years now, I learned a lot of things and through that I believe I have quite a unique perspective on certain things. Like what they say, most of the things in life are even better shared. Quality time with people, being in the moment, with family, friends, and people you love.
