I grow up in the former German Democratic Republic till the wall was broken in 1989. Means I am socialized in socialism. Was it bad for me...I do not think so. Was it good for me...maybe. In any case, as a 12-year old boy I got the opportunity to press the reset button again. Bye-bye Marx and Lenin! A couple of years later I finished my studies of business administration...welcome Adam Smith!
Today I am responsible for the finance department of a global company witch is situated in Cologne, Germany. But, of course, work is not evrything in life! Important are family and friends. Both have great significance in my life. Helps to stay humble and human. They are right by saying that I am sometimes a very determined and rational thinker. And they are also right by saying that I am open-minded, humorous and reliable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My travels in the previous years have always been more focused on education than on lying on the beach. For me traveling means learning more about the countries history, culture, politics and people. But I usually stayed in hotels or hostels. On that way I got in touch with other tourists but not realy with local people. So I missed the stories behind the stories. The stories that only the locals know to tell. I would like to see countries and foreign places more through the eyes of local people. To do that, I am convinced, there is no better way then couchsurfing. This is real international understanding at the base.

Music, Movies, and Books

As I write these lines I am listening to "Ocean Radio Chilled"...one of my most favorite radio channels. Yes, I like electronic music since more than 20 years. Thats also the reason I always go back to Ibiza for the house music. But I also like other kind of music. It depends on the situation...rock, pop, metal, indie, hip hop, reggae, classic...everything can be possible. My very first concert I attended 20 years ago was "Rammstein", my last concert I attended a couple of months ago was "Depeche Mode".
I like to go into cinema or watching a movie in TV...but without strong preferences. Sometimes Hollywood Blockbuster, sometimes alternative low budget cinema. Sometimes action, sometimes comedy. The same with literature...no strong preferences. I read a biography about Che Guevara, as well as the historical novel from Lew Tolstoi "War and peace".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sometimes it is an amazing thing to wake up in the morning and go to work in the office. Sometimes it is an amazing thing to celebrate a greate christmas party with the family . But I guess that's not the kind of amazing things to describe here in the profile. So...one of my most exciting trips was a bicycle ride through Germany. Starts at the border to the Netherlands, ends at the border to Poland. 900 Kilometers in 10 days!
