Hi hey hello!
I am a human person. I am an aries and an INFP, if you think that will tell you anything.
I, like many people, enjoy alot of things. Some of these things can include various forms of escapism such as books, video games, sci-fi fantasy worlds of all formats, daydreams.
Other more real-world things that I enjoy are exploring and wandering, hoarding and scavenging precious treasures, other people's rubbish, cold-ish weather, night time, learning about things... I like to learn about history of the ancient kind, and various sciences that relate to herbal medicine, anatomy, microbes, the mysteries workings of the earth and the universe.
I grew up near the ocean so I also like the ocean, and sailing. I would love to/need to sail on more boats. Talk boats to me. If you have a boat that needs to be sailed by a somewhat novice but very enthusiastic sailor, get at me.
I also like hula hooping and trying to learn new tricks. I play the flute sometimes. I like to go to festivals in the bush and dance all night to wonky funky tunes. I like be around people who are fun, friendly, forward thinking and interesting. I also like to be totally alone with a good book, game, or movie, and try to convince my cat friend into giving me affection.
My favourite tea is rooibos I think, my favourite wine is a nice dry red, and my favourite season is autumn.
When I was a small girl I wanted to be Tomb Raider when I grew up, still working on it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I couch surfed in Europe and the UK, hosted some in Australia.
I am currently travelling in North America, perhaps moving onto South America and/or Canada early 2017, and I'd love to potentially surf with some cool people.
ALSO ATTENTION HERE PLEASE I shouldn't have to say it, but evidently I do; I'm not here to be seduced or complimented or propositioned or whatever so please please please if that is what you are thinking of doing right now, don't. I just want to meet new people and test out their couch comfiness and give it a rating out of 10.
If you're about to send me a message asking me to come and stay at your house because you think I am *insert generic compliment here*, don't.
Seriously, it's weird and unwelcome and I've been off couchsurfing for some years now because of all this silly behaviour. If it keeps happening I will run for the hills. Don't make me regret coming back to couchsurfing please dudes please.
I'm here to meet new friends, have thought provoking conversations and experiences. Let's not make it awkward
My world revolves around having adventures; real life/on the page/virtual, and also reading, some writing when inspired, history, magic, crafts, beach, games, festivals, having a dance, sleeping, eating.. Generally doing life, I suppose.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm just going to leave these here.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
You should all watch First Life with David Attenborough. Do it now.
Everything is amazing and can be amazing. It's all a matter of perspective hey. I can't just pick one thing sorry.
In the words of Roald Dahl - "above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm all for learning whatever I can! I need someone to teach me some guitar, and someone to help me improve hooping, and most importantly I want to learn as much as there is to know about sailing boats and harnessing the power of the wind for my own ends.
I am a truly unimaginative and awful cook and I am totally weird about cooking meals, if you are a good cook then please invite me to help you prepare and chop things and maybe I can learn to not poison myself.
I'd also like to learn a language, but I could never decide which language I wanted to know. Spanish probably, since I think that will be most useful to me in the foreseeable future, but also I always thought Norwegian is a sweet language. I would also like to learn Japanese because I already have a solid basis from watching too much anime.
I don't know what to offer to teach or share in return. I could teach you whatever I may know about any of the above subjects, I guess.
I seem to have a knack for showing people how to hoop continuously around the waist.
I could teach you to read music (treble clef only sorry) I could help you with English, we can talk medicinal herbs and anatomy, though my own education is ongoing. I could talk clinical uses of herbs, and if you know about foraging for herbs and food in the wild, that would be great since that is not really a strength of mine, yet!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories, whisky and wine, mixed nuts or potato snacks, hopefully some laughs. I can share my favourite authors and games and movies. I can share my tobacco. I can share board games and card games. I can share petrol costs on road trips. I can share whatever I've got to share.
I cannot share my cooking because I am truly awful. However I actually love washing dishes and cleaning kitchens, it is quite relaxing and satisfying! So if you cook, I'll clean :)
