About Me
CURRENT MISSION
It is currently difficult for my husband and I to travel as we planned because of our obligations at home. Having people from all over the world stay with us will at least give us the opportunity to meet people and enjoy that experience without traveling
ABOUT ME
I love reading, but I wouldn't have imagined I'd end up as a librarian. My interests are in history and politics; I consider myself very much a progressive. I have always enjoyed hosting and getting to know folks from various parts of the country. I have had guests from other countries stay with us as well, and find the whole experience fascinating. We have had guests from Japan and we sponsored a little boy from Belarus who stayed with us for three summers. When we traveled in the past, we enjoyed staying in bed and breakfasts, so that we might get to know people from the area we were visiting.I have rescued and have six dogs living with us (but otherwise I am completely normal). My husband who is from the south side of Chicago is a great companion here on our little "pleasure" farm and has turned out to be quite handy in fixing the farm equipment! Who would have thought a city boy would flourish on a farm?
PHILOSOPHY
I come from a family who enjoys visitors and views everyone as potential friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have just heard about the CS Project from my daughter who lives in Chicago. I think it is a wonderful idea. I don't know if anyone would be interested in staying with us out in the country (about 50 minutes south of Chicago), but I thought I'd sign up and see what happens.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love movies-but not usually the most popular: Of the newer ones out thought THE KING'S SPEECH was wonderful; enjoyed THE WINTER BONE. Love foreign films, independent, and also some of the oldies. Books: Loved GAME CHANGE: OBAMA AND THE CLINTONS, MCCAIN AND PALIN, AND THE RACE OF A LIFETIME. Loved TEAM OF RIVALS. In fiction, loved WATER FOR ELEPHANTS.
I like all kinds of music, but I don't keep up with new stuff, so I listen to whatever my daughter or sister suggest.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In all honesty, I have to say giving birth to my daughter was the most amazing and wonderful experience of my life.
I have had other amazing experiences; from biking across the Golden Gate Bridge, to exploring Edinburgh Castle, to water skiing on beautiful Torch Lake in Michigan. I hope to have many more great experiences in the years to come.
Teach, Learn, Share
I think you can learn from any person you meet. Unless a person's life experience is identical to yours (which is unlikely), you can gain knowledge from that person.
