About Me

CURRENT MISSION:

To explore as many places and cultures and people as possible!

ABOUT ME:

I'm a twenty-four year-old recent college graduate. I got my degree in English and Creative Writing. Although I love my area of study, traveling has always been my real passion in life ever since the first terrifying time I stepped onto a plane for my first adventure.

I'm a very easy person to get along with, always willing to go with the flow and accept life's strange twists and turns. I love to listen to others' stories and I believe that I learn something new from every person that I meet. I enjoy a night out on the town equally as well as a night in filled with conversation and laugher. Both are great ways to get to know a culture and a person.

PHILOSOPHY:

There is more to life than a cookie-cutter plan. A life can be anything we make of it and I want mine to be an adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Although I am new to the Couchsurfing community, I am not new to Homestay experiences. Starting at age fourteen I began traveling the world with a youth choir, and during my years with the program I both hosted members of choirs visiting my hometown, and stayed with many generous hosts in cities that I visited. Having these experiences from a young age has given me a healthy respect for the value of interacting with locals in the city that you're visiting.

I'm on Couchsurfing because I want not only to visit new places, but I want to experience new people, and different types of lives. I believe that the only way to truly discover a new city is to learn it's secrets from someone who lives there, and I know that joining the Couchsurfing community will allow me to get the most out of my travels.

I'm a versatile person and will follow my host's lead with regards to how they like to run their home. I'm happy to help with anything around the house to make my stay easier for you!

Interests

I am a bookworm at heart, and reading is my first love. I also feel constantly pulled towards the water, and I always feel at peace there. Swimming and kayaking are a few of my favorite past times in the lakes near my home. I dabble between different art outlets. Sometimes drawing or painting, but my favorite new hobby is cross stitching. It is a very slow and meticulous art form that matches my calm nature well.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hands down my favorite band is MUSE! Some close runners up include Modest Mouse, The Avett Brothers, Bassnectar, Queen, and The Beatles.

I grew up with Harry Potter, and the series will always have a special place in my heart. I love fantasy novels like The Song of Ice and Fire series and classic dystopian novels from We, to 1984, to A Clockwork Orange. Basically give my any sort of fiction and I'll eat it up.

There aren't many movies that I don't like, but my all time favorite is The Princess Bride. I love action movies as well as comedies and maybe a romance every once in a while.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed the Great Wall of China when I was fourteen!

Teach, Learn, Share

Also, I can teach you obscure card games (or drinking games) that never managed to escape the Midwest.
