We enjoy life at home with family, friends & CS guests. When traveling, we enjoy meeting new people, sharing cultures and having fun - and doing business online with location independence.

ABOUT ME

Jane: does yoga, plays tennis, drinks wine and enjoys life. Is currently learning to speak French, so would love the opportunity to practice with French CSs!

Richard: Husband to Jane, father to our 3 kids, internet business specialist, digital strategist, business owner and entrepreneur. Enjoys food, wine, music, good company, Aussie football, etc. Plus I know a bit about websites and doing business online. Happy to talk about this (or not) and share ideas.

PHILOSOPHY

Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself. Life is to be enjoyed. Plan for the future but live in the present. Don't worry about stuff that has not happened yet and that may never happen.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We host people to stay with us and have been fortunate to stay with some wonderful people when we have travelled. Prefer that to sterile boring hotel rooms that seem the same wherever you are in the world.

Enjoying local flavor and local life is part of what we offer others and what we seek.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've hosted some lovely people in Perth, Western Australia and have stayed with wonderful people on our travels. We've also met other CS members in different places and enjoyed learning about different cultures, languages and lifestyles. The CS network is awesome in its diversity and reach, and we enjoy the uniquely special bond of trust and openness that seems to exist between members. We love it.

Interests

Interesting people, different languages, food, wine, beautiful places, not-so-beautiful places, food, wine, music, photography, history, the future, flowers, sunshine, good jokes, backgammon, dominoes, good coffee, tea and also did we mention food & wine...

(We're a bit weird in that we often take photos of great looking food. And wine.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

1. I met and got married to Jane. That was amazing. :)
2. I watched our three kids being born. That was amazing. They've all grown up to be great people. That IS amazing.
3. I once was a Hot Air Balloon pilot - well, it may not be amazing but it was pretty cool fun.
4. We've run a few businesses... not really amazing at all - but we had our moments.

By Jane: I must agree! My wonderful husband and three gorgeous (now grown up) children are the most amazing part of my life.
Richard and I had a fabulous 3 month stay in Europe in 2011 - basing ourselves in Barcelona, we travelled to many countries, met and made some amazing CS friends. Ended our trip in Istanbul, Turkey. Again we were fortunate to be "adopted" by CSs and made great friends. For me it is all about the people, it is wonderful to see and experience new things, but it is the people you meet that touch your lives and enrich your travels that you remember the most.
