About Me

I'm a US citizen who lives in the Ecuadorian Andes with my husband.
We moved from the Kansas City area to coastal Ecuador in October 2021, then moved to Cotacachi in November 2024.
I'm active and enjoy walking, bicycling and hiking.
Meeting people from all over the world and traveling are my favorite things to do.
Top interests are historic sites, history, architecture and beautiful gardens.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Ever since I was a child, I've enjoyed meeting people from all over the world. I love learning about other cultures and the ways people live in other parts of the world.
Plus, I just love making new friends; learning how we differ and how we are alike.
When I became an adult and finally had the chance to travel internationally, I learned that travel has the ability to change me; the way I think and the way I perceive things.
I want more of all of that. I don't think I'll ever tire of it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like many types of music, especially Celtic. I also enjoy hearing music from around the world, both traditional and popular.
Most of my favorite books are nonfiction as I love to learn. Biographies, autobiographies, history, travel, health and expat stories are my favorite subjects.
Movies: The Illusionist, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Love Actually, Casablanca are a few of my favorites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiking the Tongariro Pass in New Zealand with my daughter in 2005.
It's the area where many of the Mt. Doom scenes were filmed for the movie Return of the King.
