Overview
About Me
Hi I’m Janis, I am a mama to two boys. I love to explore and spend time outside in nature. I enjoy learning new things and meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. I love adventures and try to make even the mundane exciting.
I currently work part time as a yoga instructor at a special needs preschool and as a part time manager of a retail store.
I would describe myself as a lifelong learner with an insatiable sense of curiosity. I can frequently go down little rabbit holes when learning or discovering something new.
I love to travel but in my current season of life I’m more settled and traveling closer to home.
We are a busy family of 5 (me, my husband, our 2 kids, and my mom). We are early birds so everyone in the house is usually up and getting ready for the day around 6:30am. This also means we are in bed early so prefer guests that don’t plan on staying out late. My house is a dry house, no alcohol please. I will request a phone call before accepting any request.
I am happy to show you around my little town or make recommendations. I live about a 20 minute walk from the train station and bus terminal. The train ride into NYC is just over an hour.
I have a futon in the den for guests to sleep on and I can provide linens.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am looking to see the world, meet people, learn about different cultures and to raise my children as global citizens.

Music, Movies, and Books
For music, I like anything that’s on the radio or that I can dance to. Musicals are always a favorite. I still listen to the sound track of Hamilton several times a week. I pretty much like anything Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber.
For movies I like light easy to follow movies like romantic comedies or disney movies. I could watch Moana anytime. And that’s another soundtrack I listen to often.
I hate to admit that I don’t read much. I listen to audiobooks occasionally and tend to appreciate more non fiction books.
