About Me

I'm curious and I want to see new things. I don't like being on the same spot for too long. Always willing to learn more. I see a lot of people in my work so I'm good with people. At first I'm a bit shy but when you get to know me I'm a bit different. I laugh a lot! I like bad jokes. Good ones too ofcourse. I have studied as a plumber, security guard and now I graduated from laboratory assistant school. I did my latest practical training in a meat factory studying bacteria and worked there in different assigments. Now I work in Lidl.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always been interested in traveling, but I've never really had the time, guts or money (+ hundreds of other excuses) to just go somewhere. Maybe this will be a step to the right direction. I think I'll meet someone who can get me going. I can't even imagine that I could be a guest for someone who I have never seen. Please don't kill me in my sleep, if I come to visit.
This could be a great way to see the world. I don't want to be a part of a guided tourist trip. I want to see the "bad" sides too, which you don't see on a tourist trip. I'm hoping I could help someone who wants to visit here by giving them a place to stay for a moment or just show them around. I hope I could find someone to help me out aswell.

Interests

I have two main hobbies, boxing and kung fu (tai shin mun) and those take almost all of my free time. I don't like fighting but I love the sports. You get fit, stay healthy, get new friends, meet different people, you have to think and use your mind, you get to teach others, hear stories and tips and the list goes on. It's easy to get to know people by fighting with them. From kung fu I have learned many things, taking care of yourself and other trainers. That's what makes boxing and kung fu great, but I'd like to know about different martial arts too! I have also tried judo and tai ji.

Music is an important thing for me. Listening and playing. I have many instruments, but no time to play them. I collect and also make all different kinds of instruments and maybe someday I will have the time to just sit down and focus on making music. I can play guitar a little.

I like video games and I play often. It's a great way of telling a story. They have great music and beautiful art.

Different foods interest me. I even like to taste bad things. Trying not to puke while eating bad food is challenging. And fun! Try surströmming!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music is metal and blues, but I listen to lots of stuff. Music has to be fun and not so serious. I like the dumb 80's songs you accidentally find somewhere. My favorite bands are: The white stripes, Queen, Pearl Jam, Tool, Seasick Steve, Led zeppelin. I have seen at least these live: Lordi, Twisted sister, AC/DC, Metallica, Mustasch, Finntroll, Ensiferum, Children of bodom, Peer Günt, Deep purple, ZZ top, John Fogerty, Eppu Normaali.

I love horror and fantasy books. Stephen King has good books and I started reading them when I was little. Terry Pratchet is also my favorite author. I collect books along with instruments and wait that I would have time to read them.

Horror and fantasy goes for the movies too. It has to be fun, frightening, strange or preferably all of them at the same time. A good movie experience was when I went to watch Alfred Hitchcocks Psycho with Oulus symphony orchestra playing the movies music live at stage.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was at Helsinki in a bar with my friend, an old man sat at our table and started telling about his life. He was bad looking and I knew he had seen many things in his life. He told us that he was a former drug addict and always comes to this bar for his "breakfast". Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought he was going to stab us so I asked him to be our guide and show us the baddest bars around in this city that was unknown to me and he accepted gladly. That was a long and fun adventure in the night of Helsinki.
I have played frisbee golf with skates on in a hill.
I have tasted surströmming.
I rode a shopping cart down a hill.
Went for a swim in freezing water in the winter.
I tried to jump over a high fence, rolled horizontally 360 degrees on the fence in a second and faceplanted back on the same side I was jumping from. Nobody can explain what happened.
Drifted at sea because my friend threw away the oars when we were kilometers away from the shore. It was fun. I still don't know why he did it. It was a dumb thing to even borrow that rotting lifeboat in the first place.. It was full of holes already.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach finnish and english. I'd like to learn different languages too.
I know how to stay healthy and fit, how to defend yourself. Maybe I can be your training partner? I can teach about martial arts.
I know the basics of playing guitar.

I now own a piece of land in Finland, in city of Ranua. Or is it a county...? Maybe you want to go there camping? See finnish nature and other things. Please ask me more if you are interested.
Here is a link to learn about Ranua:
