About Me
I have had a passion to want to sail around the world since high school. Sailing and the life of a sailor is a lifestyle for me! A huge part of it being able to talk and hang out with people of various cultures. In the mean time; I am a captain for an old wooden Bugeye schooner sailing ship in Key West, FL. This is the same kind of boats that would be dredging for oysters in the Cheasapeake Bay between the 1890’s - 1920’s. She is the last of her kind of vessel that we know of so I also do all the maintenance and repairs she needs to continue to be on the water providing charters for snorkeling, kayaking, and sailing trips. I love talking with my guests from so many different places and it fascinates me all the time to share and learn from so many people that I know we are all open minded to new experiences otherwise we wouldnt be on Couchsurfing! I enjoy all genres of music as well. I will tell you more about me when we hang out so I am not writing you a biography, haha.
MY LIFE PHILOSOPHY:
The good seaman weathers the storm he cannot avoid, and avoids the storm he cannot weather.
Robin Lee Graham: "At sea, I learned how little a person needs, not how much.”
Mark Twain: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore! Dream! Discover!”
William Arthur Ward: “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.”
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To have a great time with new friends! I am very facinated with cultures and the people who express them. I love to hear stories of far away lands and the many qualities of places I have never been. I also want to give somebody the chance to enjoy Key West, FL from a locals point of view and save money so they may enjoy more of what this town has to offer. I wish to be able to show the upmost hospitality for my guests in hopes I may recieve the same in places I may visit. I believe knowing more people opens up opportunities as well as doors that may not have been accessible previously. But most importantly I love to know that I have friends around the world.
