ABOUT ME

I am working on my Masters at Northern Arizona University studying pine tree genetics. For the past three years I taught high school Biology and Environmental Science in Arkansas. Before that I moved a considerable amount through various AmeriCorps Environmental Education jobs and avian field technician work.

Because I normally travel with Lee I will introduce her. Lee Bryant graduated from Rhodes College in 2011 studying theater and environmental studies. She just finished her masters at Arkansas State University and works for the city of Flagstaff.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couchsurfed several times, but have not had the opportunity to host yet... I try to return the generosity and trust I have received from hosts to future hosts and promote couchsurfing to family and friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Lee and I have stayed with five wonderful families so far and look forward to more! Our latest cs experience, while attending a wedding, was particularly noteworthy. We ended up spending more time with our hosts than with our friends at the wedding. The honesty and trust that comes from cs is fantastic.

Interests

Riding my bike may be my favorite activity. I also enjoy hiking, canoeing, birding, and animation. Ultimate Frisbee is a favorite past time of mine and am looking for opportunities to play more.

Music, Movies, and Books

My book interests are varied, but can be narrowed into:
- non fiction: biology, natural history, animal physiology, and water conservation
-fiction: graphic novels, science fiction, The Invisible Man (Ellison), Doestoevsky, and others that currently aren't registering.
I am currently looking for more female authors as I realized I mainly read works written by men...
Music interest is highly variable: Beirut, Frank Sinatra, Kanye West, Jay Z, Gorillaz, Louis Armstrong, and I am listening to a lot of Ratatat and Miles Davis as of late.
Before I moved to Memphis for school I spent several years working at Blockbuster and developed an ever evolving love for movies. Miyasaki is one of my favorite directors and I am constantly searching for other animators like him. I watch a lot of foreign films with my recent favorites being Hero and 2046. I impatiently await the next Terry Gilliam movie but in the meantime I am enjoying the rise of Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Carie Mulligan, and many others.
