About Me

Hello friend!

I'm a Singaporean studying in Sheffield (UK) currently. I love to go on long walks (not just on the beach) instead of taking the public transport as it's probably the only time I get to walk around without breaking into profuse perspiration and it's probably one of the best ways to get to know the country!

Always looking for and scaling the highest mountain/tallest peak to get a feel of the place I'm at. There's something about cityscapes and naturescapes which draws me in.

Independent budget traveller seeking the best deals of the country but definitely up for any adventure and experiences!
I clean when I need a break from work; it's a pretty good stress-reliever. Probably the act of putting things away into bags and organising things helps.
Very big on sustainability now, especially food wastage. I buy my groceries from places that sells excess food from supermarkets - cool concept that everyone should look into!
Easy going, open minded and always willing to provide a listening ear to anyone (tell me about your hopes, dreams, fears, anything you like!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Cliché but very true answer: To make more friends and expand my international network

It's amazing to learn about other countries' cultures and traditions and what better way to learn about them other than from the locals? Share with me your tips and tricks of the country!

I'm able to host you in Sheffield right now and Singapore when I'm back home!
Message me if you would like me to show you around my country if you like; you can find me on Facebook if you want to save your message requests.

Interests

I like to travel when I'm not bogged down with school/work. Always googling about off-the-beaten-path itineraries to follow while I travel and discovering more than just the touristy stuff.
I also like to people watch and make up silly stories in my head about.

Trying to do a little more yoga each day (my attempt at exercising)

Just recently got into the volunteering scene (since I came to Sheffield), and I have been loving every go at it. From conservation tasks to volunteering at a my school's well-being cafe, it's been an eye-opening experience and I'm glad to be involved in this community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Boy/Girlbands music (Proud fan. haha!) The Beatles / ABBA / Coldplay / Backstreet Boys (Backstreets' back alright!) / N'Sync / Westlife / The Click Five (haha) / Taylor Swift
Random indie music that's perfect on a rainy day
Instrumental music when I'm studying
Current favourite: First aid kit

Books have taken a backseat right now as I'm swarmed with journal articles.
But the book I'm on is China Rich Girlfriend (non-fiction based on rich asians - sequel to Crazy Rich Asians, reading because it's by a local writer). All time favourite: The five people you meet in heaven (Mitch Albom)

Too many movies! But i'm always up for cheesy rom-coms
I like to binge on tv shows as well. Current favourite: Brooklyn nine-nine. All time favourite: F.R.I.E.N.D.S (of course)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

"Grad trip": Solo 5 day trip in Dublin. But it was the first time I travelled on my own and couch surfed!
(This may not be that amazing on Couchsurfing though.. haha)

Maybe.. making a difference to an individual (I was a special needs teacher)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you Mandarin and my favourite butternut squash soup!
I'm Asian but I can't teach you math nor science more than a calculator and a bunsen burner can. But I think I'm pretty good at budgeting / finding the best deals and events to go to

I like to learn about everything! Bee-keeping, bullet-journaling, anything!
Share with you about Singapore culture and her strict laws.
