About Me

Hello!

For starters, my partner and I are currently traveling across the south eastern region while we get ready to start our new jobs! My partner is moving to Franklin, TN to work for their family’s esthetician clinic. I am moving to Gatlinburg, TN where I will be working for Great Smokey Mountains National Park as a Wildland Firefighter (a prescription wildland fire module, more specifically). We are hoping to find some kinds souls that would host us while we are on the road!

Previously, I spent serval years working and living as a Firefighter in the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest. Some of those programs include a federal Hotshot Crew, a state Handcrew, and a municipal fire department. More recently I was supervising an independent coffee shop/bookstore in Indiana.

Some other fun facts about my life include managing a local alternative/psychedelic rock band, photographing a wide variety of musicians/bands throughout the US, receiving my blue belt in jiu-jitsu, volunteering for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, volunteering for a fire department, and organizing events for a bookstore/coffee shop.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find myself traveling frequently with my lifestyle and career. The CS community is an amazing place to meet other travelers. I would love to meet people along my travels and learn about their lives. The old saying goes “you never know who you’ll meet”.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Slaughter Beach Dog, Ben Howard, Bright Eyes, Dr. Dog, Surf Curse, The Growlers, The Backseat Lovers, Kurt Vile, Jim Croce, Jimi Hendricks, Zach Bryan, Briscoe, and really anything that sounds good!

Books: Michael Pollan, Donna Tartt, Sally Rooney, and Alan Watts are my favorite authors. I enjoy reading pretty much anything but tend to alternate between fiction and non-fiction. I enjoy being a student of life, so continuing to grow my knowledge and perspective is something I hope to do until I cease to exist.

TV: Not too involved with movies and shows but I very much enjoyed Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, How To Change Your Mind, Ozarks, and really any well produced documentary.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Participates in several plant medicine ceremonies deep in the Amazon Rainforest.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I always have my guitar with me. So if it’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, I would be more than happy to teach you some things! I am also heavily into photography and graphic design (lifestyle, portrait, and concert). I would be more than willing to share my knowledge. I am also rather savy at teaching martial arts and general self defense! I can also talk your ear off about wildland fires, geography, and National Parks.

Learn: I would love to improve my Spanish!

What I Can Share with Hosts
