CURRENT MISSION

I have been studying Swedish language and culture for a few years now. This past year I finally followed my dream to move to Sweden. So now I'm here and trying to figure it out!

ABOUT ME

I am a hard-working individual who lives for food and wine. I have spent my life running chef-owned restaurants. Several years ago, I happened to meet several Swedes who were in rock bands and touring here in the US. I really hit it off with them and it lead me to want to know all I can about this incredible place that they came from. It seemed like the more I found out, the more I realized how much I have in common with the overriding Swedish societal norms (hard-working, reserved, punctual, group-based decision making...). I don't know how many of these are even true.. So, I have been studying and now I crave to be immersed in the Swedish culture.

PHILOSOPHY

I am easy going and respectful of other's lives, interests and beliefs. I like to meet people and gain perspective of the world through more than just my experience.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am quite new at this but am excited to try it out! I will try and surf the first time and maybe host later on.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am new at this. I have done Airbnb many times and had great experiences but I'm looking forward to a more personal connection host, city and space.

兴趣

I love food and wine and restaurant culture. I get to meet so many people who all have such diverse lives and interests but at a restaurant we all come together.
When I'm not at work, I spend most of my time taking long solitary hikes through the woods.

I guess that my reading interests are fairly varied. I love the humor of Vonnegut, the psychological turmoil of Simenon and who doesn't love the thrill of a Swedish mystery?

I have visited Sweden a few times before but never for this long a duration. I have to say that touring the Gothenburg archipelago ranks up there with my most amazing experiences. So beautiful...

I guess one thing this all comes down to for me is that people are more similar than we think. It's easy to stereotype and generalize when you have nothing concrete to go on but isn't it so much better to actually go and see for yourself what is going on?!
