PHILOSOPHY

My late 30s have been a time of huge change for me. I'm reevaluating how I live my life and trying to make things simpler, more compassionate and more sustainable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just get started on the actual CouchSurfing site, but I've been staying on people's couches for the past few months as I've traveled around the country interviewing jazz musicians and giving poetry readings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This summer has taken me from New York to New Orleans and back with about 20 stops in between. I stayed with just one person I'd ever met before, and I had an amazing series of experiences with some of the kindest, most generous folks I've ever met.

Interests

I'm a music nut. I work in the jazz world but my tastes are much broader than that. I also love poetry; stand-up comedy (particularly classics like Lenny Bruce, early George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Bill Hicks); good food and interesting conversation. I like to ride my bike, too. And I meditate every day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I listened to a guy play They Might Be Giants songs on a washtub bass under a chandelier in a wigwam (with a koi pond and waterfall inside it) on the banks of the Potomac river.
