ABOUT ME

I'm a recent University graduate and am currently a teacher on the supply list in Saskatoon, Canada for the public school division. I also teach guitar and tuba out of my place while still trying to write music and stay active and perform. University has taken up my life and my travel experiences are incredibly weak. I hope to finally leave North America this winter, if even for a little bit.I've recently visited Helsinki where I met amazing, sites, and even got a pretty underground, tourist experience. I loved Helsinki and my next adventure is teaching English and Music in Seoul to Kindergarten children. I'm incredibly nervous about the whole experience but can't wait for it to begin!

PHILOSOPHY

I really enjoy learning and teaching. I think we spend too much time looking for answers rather than just accepting the actual. I enjoy creativity and try to teach creativity as the ability to accept and adapt to what is happening rather than trying to conform to a notion already put forth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I'm just a surfer (as far as I can tell, not many come through Saskatoon). But i do have many international friends and some of them are couchsurfers as well. I'd like to host someday when I have the space but for now I'd love to take someone out in the city. I am incredibly personable.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had one international experience through this website and it was absolutely amazing. I can't wait to do it again.

Interests

I am interested in Music, Writing, but first and foremost education. I love teaching and am interested in any way my education can benefit me or others.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any movies that are genre flicks are typically amazing. I also really enjoy documentaries and movies that try to do something different.
e.g. Bloods and Crips, Shaolin, Ed Wood Films, Manic, Run Lola Run etc.
I really enjoy music with a dance beat and that's poppy but expands much more beyond that. I also enjoy playing/writing classical/experimental and pop music.
e.g. Darwin Deez, Louis XIV, Arcade Fire, Chopin, Varese, John Cage (The greatest philosopher of music of our time). etc.
Anything that examines the laws of class and the disruption of class systems.
e.g. Brave New World, The Satanic Verses, Pedagogy of the Oppressed etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to a gay sauna with two people I just met that day through my host. Amazing two people and, as a straight man, it was pretty exciting and incredibly weird and I'm glad I did it. I don't expect many tourists get that experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've spent a great deal of time teaching music to children as well as spending time in regular classes. I'm also incredibly open minded so I can usually gain a lot of experiences quite quickly and meet tons of people. I don't have any specific goals in my learning other than meeting new people.
