About Me

I'm an adventurous, easy going, easy to get along with Chef on the move who likes travel and new places. I have been working on Cradle Mountain in Tasmania and Im looking for places to stay in Launceston and in Sydney whilst I'm on my way to Norfolk Island for a new job. I love food obviously, travel, exploring new places, meeting people and making new friends, eating out, the outdoors, kitesurfing and the beach. Photography is my hobby and I have an interest in healthy living, organic foods and sustainability. I enjoy a quiet beer or a couple of glasses of wine. I just turned 40 but Im young at heart and get along well with all age groups, younger and older.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was curious about couch surfing when I was travelling Europe but I didn't end up joining at the time. A friend recommended it to me and said it can be great. From experience I've found that its heaps more fun to stay with friends who are local to the area you are visiting as they know the area and can at the least, tell you or show you the best things to see and do. I've stayed with friends and family in Lyon in France, Dubai, on the Swiss border and in Wroclaw in Poland and I saw things, ate food and visited places I never would have known about if not for the people I was with. I'm heading to Norfolk Island for a new job and Im looking for somewhere to stay in Launceston around the 20th until the 22nd and then Sydney from the 22nd until the 25th when I fly out. I haven't selected that I'm accepting visitors because I don't have a place of my own at the moment. :)

Interests

Food and cooking, wine, beer and eating out. My hobbies are photography and kitesurfing. I also have a surfboard, a 4wd and I recently sold my motorcycle. I like the outdoors, the beach exploring new places and going for bush walks. I also like to just chill out and stay home, eat in and watch movies. I love company but Im not the type that is always out and has a huge circle of friends. I can be pretty quiet and I prefer smaller circles of friends, coffee, dinner, drinks and relaxed and meaningful discussions. I also play guitar and would like to be more creative and artistic. would love to have some studio space so that I could paint pictures one day.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like variety in music. I'm enjoying a lot of pop music lately, just top 40 stuff but I like all sorts. My recent purchases were Ed Sheeran X Live at Wembley, Pink Floyd The Endless River, Crowded House The Very very Best of, Lenny Cravitz Greatest Hits and Ministry of Sound Running tracks and I like all of them. Also listen to Passenger, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, Angus and Julia Stone, The Police, Monsters and Men, older U2, Hilltop Hoods etc...
Books, I'm reading Cloudstreet by Tim Winton. Also I've read The Bookthief, Shantaram, Lord of the Rings, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The life of Pi, The God of Small Things, The Miracle of Mindfulness and a few by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Isabelle Allend. Also a few cookbooks like Faviken, Mugaritz and Heston at Home. Haven't watched many movies lately, been watching the walking dead season 2 and three, its not very spiritually uplifting but its entertaining. Also watching californication season 4.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well I travelled Europe solo, meeting up with friends and family on the run. Somehow made it to Dubai, Barcelona, Malaga, Tarifa, Lyon, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and London. I've lived in Gladstone, Sydney, Perth, Cairns, Brisbane and on numerous islands and resorts as a Chef. I've done one bungie jump which was pretty awesome. And kitesurfing can be amazing on a good day....too many things???

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach food and cooking and I'm always learning about food and cooking. Theres nothing like a good home cooked meal made with a bit of love, somebodies special dish or dishes that they cook at home. I love to learn about other cultures and nationalities. I love cultural diversity and the food of different cultures. I have an interest in learning other languages like French and Spanish, Japanese and Korean. And I want to learn more guitar and Photoshop for my photography.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm easy going and have a quiet personality. Lets share a drink and some food and chat about the world. I like to get out and about and I think Im good company. I can give a few travel tips and/or cooking tips. As I mentioned I'm into photography and have a reasonable idea about photography , cameras and lenses and lightroom editing software. I can play along with guitar but only pretty basic. I can cook if you supply the food and a glass of wine! ;)
