About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To help people reconnect to the earth and to each other.

I love to learn, and I learn best by doing, so traveling is a good way of getting to do and learn new things all the time. I'm kind of quiet most of the time, and have a strange manner that sometimes puts people off, but I mean very well and I'm always willing to help someone in need.

PHILOSOPHY

Truth and reality is a different thing for every person on earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

People are really cool everywhere! And my motorcycle is very uncomfortable to sleep on.

Interests

permaculture, physics, visual art, astronomy, biology, travel, communal living, cooking, repairing stuff, family, resource evaluation (dumpster diver and recycler), arborism, building, music (although I haven't yet revealed my musical talents to the world)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

recovered over $2000 worth of good, edible food from dumpsters by myself in a single night

Teach, Learn, Share

One cool place I have been recently taught me about growing food crops year-round in a "wind-tunnel". This is a wedge shaped green house with two layers of clear plastic stretched on and in a metal frame, and kept inflated by a tiny fan. With moist dark earth exposed between the plants, the soil absorbs sunlight and retains the heat and humidity within the structure, even with several feet of snow on the ground outside. You can control the conditions inside easily, and grow food bearing crops year round in most places on earth.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, clean, do farmhand work, preserve food, fix appliances and furniture, brew alcohol, create signs with paint, ink, or chalk, weld, tell stories, babysit, administer CPR and basic first aid, set up an ebay business, model for hours in the buff, sing a little, cut, split, and stack firewood, find free things, fight a fire, sail a small vessel, inspect a furnace, critique bars and restaurants, disco dance, process a deer, paint faces, wrap gifts, change the oil and filter on a car, and predict the immediate future*.

*Sometimes.
