About Me

I like working with plants and with people. I like learning histories of particular places and particular people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On here to meet new people, save money, see local culture and hang out with actual people. Turn tourism into travel.

Interests

I love being outside--going for walks, runs, hikes, kayaking, rafting. I like history, particularly local, environmental, and food history. I love food and drink--hard and soft. I like to think about how much change society has gone through and how much it continues to go through--about how the human experience is constantly changing but stays remarkably constant, too. I love hearing about what other people are passionate about, too, and learning about it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy oldies, country, bluegrass, rap, EDM, jam, folk music.

I'm a big fan of Gary Snyder and Wendell Berry, Ernest Hemingway and Langston Hughes, Walt Whitman.

Don't watch movies too much but I will watch House of Cards in a day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Tried a front flip into the Colorado River from a 30 foot cliff. Hurt, made a good story tho.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you a bit of cooking, but you probably know just as well as I do :) I'm pretty knowledgeable about the history of Chicago and our ecosystems, I would love to help in your garden or working outside. I do meditate (not as much as I used to), but you don't need me to teach you that. If boats are available, we could totally do a badass kayak or canoe trip down a local river.

Would love to learn to cook more. Love hearing the history of new places, or far-off places, or even just how the economy/lifestyles work.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Would for sure love to help cook, would feel comfortable dogsitting or running errands for you, I'd totally be down to join for a party or a group going out, I love meeting new people.
