About Me
ABOUT ME
Until recently I used to work as a war journalist for a big national newspaper. They've sent me to Afghanistan a few times and to training missions in other places in the world.
After I resigned, I became a full time history student at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). At the moment I am also writing my second book, besides doing the occasional freelance projects as a journalist.
PHILOSOPHY
Be yourself. Everybody else is already taken. (Oscar Wilde)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Recently, I renovated my spare room in my house in the southern part of Amsterdam. I think it would be fun sharing this room with a couch surfer. It takes 15 mintues from Dam Square by bike.
I could also show you around in Amsterdam, and point you some nice, unspoiled places to walk, drink, eat or dance. Or go to some nice museums. In summertimes, I often take my boat and float away through the canals in Amsterdam, or go to some lakes outside the city to jump of the boat and take a swim.
If the coffeeshops are your only purpose of your visit to Amsterdam, I'm afraid I'm you'll have to find another guide :-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Non so far, but my brother is a frequent couch surfer. He made me enthousiastic about it.
Interests
I love reading books and go to classical concerts. I often go to the 'concertgebouw' in Amsterdam, but I also go out in clubs and bars in the city center. I'll go the movies twice a week, and I'm regular visitor of the art-, history- and photography museums in Amsterdam.
