ABOUT US
Jay:
I am very outgoing and obviously love to travel. I have lived a million lives in my 43 years. I have mostly been a gymnastics coach, coaching all age levels up to elite gymnastics for the national teams of the US and Germany. I currently coach a university. I was also a fifth grade teacher in inner city Houston.
I work to live.. not the other way around. I realized that my career is a means to see the world through the job or just plain old time off. My passions are traveling and coaching gymnastics. We have a house right in Lewes, DE. The first town in the first state at the beach.
Pedro:
I grew up in Houston, TX with a large Hispanic family. After graduating high school I went straight into the Navy and was a corpsmen. I now have served my time, finished nursing school and work at Johns Hopkins hospital. I love to travel and can't wait to see more of the world. Currently, we love vacationing as a couple and as a family. We will be exploring the Scottish Highlands, Denmark, Sweden, Portugal, and Morocco. Our next 6 week family trip is to Korea, Phillipines, and Japan.
Jordan:
I am 14 years old and I like to hang out with my friends. I compete in cheerleading and I also have a job coaching ninja and tumbling at a local gymnastics gym. I talk a lot and have lots of energy. I love doing hair and make up and fashion. I go to Hershey Park on the weekends with my friends.
Sophia:
I am 2.5 and can spell my name. I also have a lot of energy and am always smiling.
PHILOSOPHY
We work to live.... not the other way around.
We want to collect as many memories and friends around the world as possible.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have a house, room, couch to offer because we have slept on so many other's couches. Hopefully, we can pay it forward and offer others the great experience that we've had.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have met many couchsurfers and stayed with a few. We have enjoyed every interesting experiences. We love that they have a local knowledge to share with us. Now that we are a family of 4. We don't really "stay" with others anymore, but we love to meet people for coffee, dinner, going out as a family or just as a couple.
Interests
Jay: things that really grab my attention are things that can only happen in certain areas at certain times. things that are rare. I think what makes my life engaging *(to other people i am assuming) are the many adventures that I have had, thus far, that were not planned and my story telling abilities that go along with those adventures. My excitement about everything usually draws people in.
Pedro: I am a little newer than Jay on the travel front. I traveled with the military and we have been traveling since we met. We usually take 5-6 weeks every spring/summer to go somewhere and explore. It's a little more difficult with little ones, but we will never stop trying.
As of right now... . on a normal day.. we plan our days to take the kids where he needs to go and play as much as we can with the babies, we go to work and school, do some sort of exercise in the morning as a family and then plan any sort of thing that can be fun to do in our free time.

Music, Movies, and Books
travel books, self-improvement books
Jay reads a lot.... and reads everything. Pedro reads nursing textbooks... almost finished grad school. haha
Jordan does not like to read and Sophia can be caught in her room at night or early in the morning just surrounded by books and is quiet as a mouse. Whitaker likes to read the same book over and over.... and over again.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
done: coached the US national women's gymnastics team at international competitions
seen: the sunset over the clouds standing on top of a volcano in hawaii was pretty awesome.
hiked down the swiss alps while trying to entertain a 5 year old by telling him that Anna and Elsa (the frozen princesses) lived there.
Honeymooned deep in the Panamanian rainforest and stayed with a person who built his own house out there where you had to hike 2 miles with a machete to get there.
Teach, Learn, Share
We enjoy meeting people that have awesome stories or they are passionate about something and can teach us a thing or two about it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Show them the great things that the eastern coast of the US has to offer. Home-cooked meals and a comfortable house to have as a home base for your travels.
