ABOUT ME

I majored in drama in college and am now getting back involved in acting. I have been doing plays and movies (small independent ones) for a couple of years. I am currently trying to fill my life with things I'm interested in so that when I finally retire, I will have things to do. I hope that some world travels are also in my future. Couch surfing seems like a great way to go about it. We have hosted 4 exchange students in the past and have enjoyed the experience. I am more interested in hosting students since my kids are both in college now. We now have what is commonly called the "empty nest," and I hope to add the occassional visitor so that we have a reason to wash the sheets and towels. My wife is not completely comfortable with this, so I would definately want to chat with the person a couple of times before he/she arrives. We are not fancy people, but would certainly be able to provide food and lodging for a few days to someone who likes a family atmosphere.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in live and let live. I am open to most anyone and try to respond out of love to the world around me. I respect others' beliefs and lifestyles and hope that none of that "stuff" ever becomes an obstacle to us connecting. I enjoy getting to know new people from all walks of life.

I like movies that are character driven usually. I have seen so many movies lately that I wouldn't attempt to list them all. I love talking about movies and would enjoy discussing them with you anytime.
I like most modern music and am always interested in learning about new bands.
I like to read but never seem to find the time to read more than a few magazines except when it comes to Harry Potter. I reread book 5 before the movie came out and then reread book 6 to be ready for book 7 when it came out. I have now read them all and will probably read them all again soon.

When I was 19 I hitchhiked around the U.S. going 5,800 miles in 4 weeks. This was in the early 70's and life has never been the same since.

Having taught English for all these years, I have developed a great love for the language. I am always happy to help anyone with English - teachers teach right? In America we are greatly disadvantaged when it comes to languages, and I hope to learn some other languages along the way - hopefully first hand.
