About Me

Hey!! I'm Jaylen! Dogs and Babies love me. I'm a pretty positive and laid back girl. I spent the last 2 1/2 years teaching in Seoul, South Korea and now I’m planning a trip to Europe, before I head back to my home state, Oklahoma.

I'm very spontaneous when it comes to planning because researching and making an itinerary kind of kills the fun a bit. I’m pretty mellow and not a big partier. I’m a terrible dancer and singer but still do it anyways. I don’t drink a lot because I can’t really stomach alcohol, but I still really enjoy going out and being social. Really into beautiful places and good conversation. I like a good mix between being busy and enjoying slow moments. Always down for an active outdoor activity or eating.

I like clean spaces. I always make my bed in the morning and make sure to wash dishes before going to bed. Also, pretty committed to my dental hygiene. I’m part of the small percentage that floss regularly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking for a more authentic experience while traveling. My best experiences traveling have been the ones where I've spent the majority of time with locals. I like to really get to know a place and the people when I travel and feel like it's hard to get the feel of a place when staying at places like hostels, airbnbs, and hotels. I love site-seeing and doing touristy things as much as the next person, but I think traveling is most memorable when you meet amazing people and try/see things that you couldn’t find with a quick google search.

I’m not just looking for a place to crash. I would like a host who could share travel tips for the area I’m in and is friendly enough to chat and interact. Traveling can get lonely and good interactions are SO important to me. Not really a budget backpacker and could afford to stay at a hostel or Airbnb, but I REALLY want the feeling of visiting a friend in a foreign country who knows the area.

Music, Movies, and Books

TV Shows & Movies: Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Rec, Friends, GOT, Modern Family, Barefoot Contessa. Pixar movies. Marvel movies.

Books: White Oleander, Rye Post, Pride and Prejudice, The alchemist

Teach, Learn, Share

Sadly, I only speak one language and don’t really have any notable skills. I can probably give you lots of good recommendations of Netflix shows to watch.

Open and accepting to any information people are willing to teach me. I’m terribly shy at learning languages, I blame this on my high school French teacher who told me I spoke “hick French” whatever that is. Korean taxis drivers not being able to understand my Korean also hasn’t helped to build my confidence. Tips and tricks for practicing pronunciation are more than welcome!

Really want to learn:
-to drive manual
-to cook a meal from scratch
-to drive a motor bike
-to play musical instrument
-to make a good cocktail drink
-to surf

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a great listener. Tidy, so I won’t trash your place. I grew up sharing a room with two sisters, so I know how to share space mindfully.
