Overview
About Me
I am currently a collaborating climate scientist with a Research Lab in Vienna and also simultaneously in the verge of finishing my PhD in Economics in UK. Besides work, I am deeply fascinated by world cinema, born and brought up in India , cinema from every possible corner of the world exposed me to a lot of cultures, music and views and opened up my mind and made me really a cool accomodating person, in a way no other form of education ever could. Aside of that, I am also into traveling solo, poetry, music, cooking and art. I do not mind the occasional "lose yourself to dance" times in a club with *good* music either. Often a nerd but not a nerd always👀
I have been travelling widely since last 5 years despite my PhD limitations and this year I am glad to be spending the summer and autumn in Europe. I will be traveling solo to a few countries in Europe from the beginning of October and then return to India just when the winter sets in here (possibly go straight to the beaches of South Goa because winter isn't something I'm quite used to 🏝️ :))
I go back to my thesis in November and would like CS to help me to forget about it in October 🤷🏻♀️
Traveling in Italy / Rome/ Sicily from 5-11th Oct
Traveling win Spain/ Barcelona/ Sitges/ Ibiza from 11-17th Oct (looking for someone interested in Sitges Fantasia Film Festival)
Traveling in France/ Paris 17-19th Oct
Will be in Vienna on 20th Oct
Traveling to Southern India 20-24th Oct
Traveling in Goa 25 Oct-5th Nov
.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would like to meet new people who are travelers themselves and are giving back to the community, that's the whole point behind travelling solo. To discover.
Music, Movies, and Books
Currently loving the songs of Michelle Gurevich and her lyrics! I also vibe to post rock, dream pop and folk music of any form. Jon Hopkins, Khruangbin, Sufjan Stevens, Beth Hart, Arooj Aftab, AR Rahman....a wide variety of musicians have touched my heart depending on my mood
Movies are too many ! But some of my fav directors would be Roy Andersson, Truffaut, Pedro Almodovar, Antonioni, Jim Jarmusch etc.
Recent fav book was "Normal People" by Sally Rooney
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Striving to make everyday phenomenal.
But yes I got stuck in lockdown in India (all the flights and even local taxis and transport got banned for months). I had to find accommodation for myself while no one was willing to take in someone new for fear of COVID! I grew up by years during that phase, I learnt how to cook elaborate Indian meals and battled intense COVID twice alone and survived , got my phone stolen and recovered it from the thief, handled crazy hosts, watched about 150 movies and learnt to enjoy solitude within your room :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
Culinary skills/ recipes (especially Indian regional food, no its not just butter chicken and pakora 👀). Basically I can offer to cook one of the three meals of the day and eat together !
Interesting music suggestions.
Recommend movies that you might wanna watch after I'm gone and I'm sure you are not gonna forget it
Morning yoga/Suryanamaskar (if I'm not feeling lazy)
And/Or
Peace, calm and serenity within the house with full respect to each other's boundaries :)
