Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make my mark in Nashville (in pencil).
ABOUT ME
I enjoy meeting all sorts of people and get along well with almost everyone. Now I'm back in my home state of NC, but most of my life I've lived in Chicago and Portland, OR. I'm planning a move to Nashville soon. About traveling, I've backpacked to 20 countries but now I must work, so couchsurfing is my way to see the world.
PHILOSOPHY
Be kind. Enjoy. Light is right. I dislike bureaucracy.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've only surfed with people in the southeast and midwest US so far, but I'm just getting started. When I move to NVL I'm looking forward to showing people around.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with four people and had a great time with everyone. Meeting people this way is very rewarding. Everyone has been smart and nice.
Interests
My favorite things are hiking in the mountains and biking up really big hills, also long road trips. Music tends to make me happy, especially catchy, energetic songs of every kind; I play a bit of saxophone. In the past I danced a lot of salsa and for anyone who wants to learn, I would love to show you. My next project will be brewing my own beer (a smooth-drinking porter). I was a college philosophy major so hit me up with your ideas on the world. Oh, almost forgot meditation and Buddhism...I'm a relaxed Buddhist humanist, such that I meditate every day and try to keep mindful of what I'm doing, and think that volunteering is good for you, but I do not believe in anything supernatural. I am very open minded to whatever you believe in or not.

Music, Movies, and Books
A Confederacy of Dunces. War and Peace. Green Mansions. Star Trek. Dexter. Futurama rules! I listen to a lot of Pandora, so my music taste all over the map.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camped at the base of the Salmon Glacier and watched ice calve into a glacial lake. In Yukon I hiked nine miles alone into the wilderness in the cold of early September, passing grizzly bear tracks and rock slides, until I came to the foot of the Tombstone Mountains.
Teach, Learn, Share
well, i can't say too much, really. from my own experience, I think that meditation is a good thing, but YMMV. I hope that budding meditators will remember to take things easy, be patient, and just enjoy being a bit more aware, a bit softer and trust that the process will work. Also, get out into the world as much as you can and try new things. this is what has worked best for me.
