About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being REALLY excited about MOVING ACROSS THE WORLD!!

ABOUT ME

Well...in the last year I have gone from living in a 3 bdrm house...to a one bdrm apartment...to a room in my friend's apartment...and now, not satisfied yet...I am pushing, jamming, and cramming my room into my two allotted checked luggage items so that I can fly across the world and start anew in New Zealand...downsizing is refreshing...well...in reference to getting rid of unnecessities (i am aware that i made that word up)...not so much when referring to massive corporate lay-offs and the like...

PHILOSOPHY

I strive to be the least complex human that I know...theres not a whole lot that can ruffle my feathers...simple pleasures make me happy - my dog, spontaneity, and making my friends laugh...you know, the basics. I think that everyone should be free to experience anything that they feel may make them happy or excited at any given time as long as it doesn't screw anyone over...and...thats pretty much it...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe that one should strive to give above your means and live below them...sometimes thats hard to do but I try to really do my best. I am a relatively new member to the CS community and already, the generosity and sense of family that has been extended to me has been overwhelming! I hope to repay the CS community in whatever way that I can and become as active a member in my new home as I am here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As minimal as it has been thus far (hoping to change that REALLY soon), I have met some really beautifully unique people that I can learn and grow from. In this new move, I can't wait to expand my experiences and add more to this section!! Don't you worry, this is definitely -to be continued...

Interests

So...I am really passionate about photography - I like landscape (Peter Lik does mystifying things with color and light) although I'm a FAR cry from a dab hand, myself. I do enjoy experimenting even though most of my arthouse pix come out just looking blurry...I have a really nice camera that I'm just getting used to and my, old faithful, manual SLR has accompanied me on many adventures. I like to go to gallery openings, sip on free wine/nibble cucumber sandwiches, and pretend that I know what I'm critiquing. I do that @ art galleries/museums, as well. I play the guitar and have been known to humm a few notes from time to time. I only know a few songs and sometimes I get nervous in front of people and forget the words. I like to cook dinner for my friends and I try to stay as healthy as I can...I do drink kinda a lot, though...I love to snowboard and jog, although both activities leave me in pain...but its a good, mind-clearing, stress relieving hurt, you know?

Music, Movies, and Books

Ok...Books: so lately, I have been on this really rather embarrassing retrospective journey spent indulging my inner adolescent girl by reading light, airy series such as Harry Potter, Twilight, and LOTR (well...I am moving to NZ, after all)...but I can be serious if I want to...like Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Chuck Palahniuk but sometimes the ladder of the 2 becomes a bit too heavy for my likings so I take a break and read about what Bella and Edward are doing...
Movies: Anything vampire related is great (that sounds strange; i am kinda, but not in a creepy, socially inept way)...not so much the really gory ones, though, that don't really have a purpose other than to be gory...that tv show, "Trueblood", has been one of my recent obsessions...also like Johnny Depp, Christopher Guest, and anything Coen Brothers...
Music: umm...i'll show you my zune...i have a pretty open-minded approach to music...sharing it is actually one of my favorite things to do...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Was a helicopter paramedic for a few weeks and landed on top of a hospital in the middle of a big city...

Visited the Museum of Spam (yes, that’s right, the canned gelatinous meat has its own museum) in Austin, Minnesota...

Delivered a baby a few months ago (assisted with the delivery, didn't actually give birth)...that was rather amazing...

...and much, much more still to come!!

Teach, Learn, Share

So I can offer some CPR lessons or maybe teach you the proper way to do the heimlich...again, a little strange, but thats what I do...also I know a lot about plants but I'm not a very good gardener (i can't really figure that out)...I really would like to learn how to surf and sail and (big surprise) successfully grow stuff in the ground that I can eat...
