About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi,
I'm Jean-Charles/JC/Chuck, I'm 22 years old, I live in Paris suburbs. I will soon move to Strasbourg, where I'll enter nursing school. I'd self-identify as a punk, and I hope this does not spawn any negative representation in your mind; I'm a good kid, I'm clean and I'm not that stupid. I'm just into the music, the community that goes with it, and all the folk: shows, zines, DIY, politics...

I have a few skills that I'd be glad to share: I'm a good cook (I only cook vegan stuff, I invented a pasta recipe that has enjoyed a fair amount of success in Paris' DIY scene:-)), I've worked as a bike mechanic in the past, it's been some time, but I could still service your bike if you need it. I can teach you a lot of maths, how to play drums, how to play the guitar (if you reeeeaaaaally suck), how to box, how to lift weights, how to lose or gain weight (no seriously, I have a quite advanced knowledge in nutrition and fitness). I speak english fluently et français aussi, so I could translate whatever you want. I like a good laugh, I am easy-living, discrete yet able to talk about a sh*tload of various subjects, and a good partner for a ton of games! And last but not least, I can teach you how to fold a t-shirt in 2 seconds. Just imagine what you could do with the time you'd save!

PHILOSOPHY

I don't know, it's tough to answer this in a short paragraph... I guess my main "influences" in life are "voyage au bout de la nuit" and "le carnet du cuirassier Destouches" by Céline, "Der Einzige und sein Eigentum" by Max Stirner, and the Tractatus by Wittgenstein.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, for now, just by sending request! I don't have my own place for now, but when I do (soon, fingers crossed) I'll probably host too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None for the moment through this website! I have hosted friends of friends in the past, and I have stayed with people I didn't really know too, it always was good times!

Interests

Music (mostly Hardcore Punk and punk-rock, but also outlaw country, folk, some ska, some gangsta rap...), literature (Céline, John Fante, Raymond Carver, Bukowski, Nelson Algren... and punk zines.), Writing, watching movies, going to shows, biking, boxing, weightlifting (though I'll admit I've been globally lazy these days), cooking, eating, doing maths, learning new languages, partying, meeting new people, making friends, talking, sleeping, being broke, looking around, journeying to the end of the night, moving to a new city...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was an exchange student in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, three years ago. The US is probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
