About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Taking the long way home

ABOUT ME

I spent the last two years working with an association of basket weavers in a village near Essaouira, Morocco. I finished my project and set sail in October, taking advantage of my lack of obligations to visit a few dream destinations. I am in the process of looking for my next place to live, particularly interested in cities with excellent public transportation.

PHILOSOPHY

I think that it's important to keep moving. If I stay in the same place for too long (either physically, spiritually, socially, or otherwise), I'm afraid that I'll stop challenging myself. New experiences are my fuel for growth and I hope that I never stop wanting to grow!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still kind of new to the CouchSurfing project, but I've participated in every way that I can and have no plans of stopping anytime soon!

Interests

When I'm traveling, I love wandering aimlessly, tasting the variety of street food options, learning the public transportation system, and meeting local residents and other travelers.

I also love hiking, bicycling, listening to music and reading. I want to learn to scuba dive and to start meditating.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read nonfiction, but it's usually too dry to keep me interested for long, so I have to read several books at the same time to compensate for my short attention span. Usually a nonfiction or two, as well as an indulgent fantasy or mystery. Although, I admittedly don't read as much as I want to.

I do LOVE movies, but I'm kind of a movie snob--I want to see good actors with developed characters entangled in a complicated plot. Is that too much to ask? It's even better if I have to watch it 2 or 3 times before I really understand what's going on. And I'm starting to realize that there are a ton of great older movies, but I haven't quite stepped into that realm yet.

I love music. Especially when it's live and ESPECIALLY when it's at music festivals. My favorite are the dry, hot, multi-day, camping variety. There's not much that I don't like, although I've never been able to fully embrace country music.
