Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

I don't have any kids, I don't own a car, I don't have much debt, and I want to explore the world while I have the chance! Life is too short to live with regrets! Carpe diem!

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty laid back and easy to get along with. I don't have any children, roommates, or pets. I don't own a car. My religious beliefs are somewhere between Christianity and Buddhism with a basis in scientific knowledge. I work third shift (11 p.m. until 7:30 a.m. EST.) I'm very accepting of other people and their beliefs. I have been told that I'm funny and random. I guess I have my moments... I'm a grammar nut and have impeccable editorial skills when it comes to the English language. I know a tiny little bit of German, but not enough to refer to myself as anywhere near proficient. I like to keep my hair long and have been referred to as a bit of a hippy. I don't like letting anything go to waste, especially food. That being said, I don't eat or drink after other people unless I'm dating them (so that won't likely happen for a very, very long time! Hahaha!!) I don't like the cold, not one bit! In fact, tropical to moderate temperatures are right up my alley. I have been known to say that i would much rather sweat than freeze. I suppose being too hot can be energy-draining, but I'd still rather be hot and tired than cold and tense. I spend most of my time at work, home, and my parents' house. Family is very important to me. I will defend my family to the bitter end! I know my way around a computer and can do a fair amount of things with software and hardware. I have been called a computer nerd, but I know some people who put my "skills" to shame. My friends say I'm cheap, I say I'm just thrifty! But I can stretch a dollar quite far when I have to. I don't waste time with coupons, but I definitely search for bargain prices. I'm selling off my stuff on eBay to save up money so I can start travelling the world. I have lived in the same town for basically my whole life and I am getting ready to make a drastic lifestyle change; I'm planning on moving to an Asian country (possibly Thailand or the Philippines.) I think that pretty much sums it up for now...

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm mostly on here to gain insight on potential areas of the world that I intend to travel to and possibly crashing on someone's couch while I try to figure out where I'm going to go next. But I'm not entirely opposed to the thought of letting someone crash here for a night or two while I'm still here in the States..

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Technically, I was CouchSurfing before I was a CouchSurfer, but I have not really travelled since I joined the site...

Interessen

Music is the first and foremost love of my life! I enjoy listening and making music more than anything else (and, yes, I do mean ANYTHING!) Case in point: I have spent thousands of dollars and much time and effort into turning my apartment into a recording studio. When I do finally move, I'm taking as much of my studio with me as possible (this may make it difficult for me to find a couch to sleep on, but hopefully I can work something out.) I don't really think this counts as soliciting since I'm not making any profit from it, so here is the address to my SoundCloud page: http://soundcloud.com/dejected_motives . I suppose putting that up there also shows you that I'm a real person. If you couldn't tell from the music I've dabbled in, I enjoy electronic music quite a bit. To further prove that point, here is my Pandora profile: http://www.pandora.com/#!/profile/activity/jmoate_1985 What can I say, I love to move!! But I have different stations for different types of music because I do enjoy a diverse spectrum of musical styles. After music, my next greatest interest is exploring the world although I have never been financially able to do so until recently. I want to visit as many of the countries on this planet as possible before I die. If I am able to increase my revenue enough, I would like to set a record for countries visited in the fastest time (or at least give it my best shot!) There is so much beauty on this planet that I want to explore and appreciate. There may not be enough time in my life to do all of the searching that I would like to, but I have waited far too long to start and I am about to do something about that! I like food very much (especially meat!) I am sort of picky, but I know what I like.. I enjoy doing things outdoors. I have been rock climbing and whitewater rafting and enjoyed both very much. But repelling is AWESOME!! I've never been bungee jumping or skydiving but I intend to do both before I die (hopefully not RIGHT before, hahaha!!) I buy and sell on eBay, so I have a source of income no matter where I happen to end up. I'm also a very talented DJ and could easily make good money doing that in an urban setting. I collect sunglasses and shirts for some reason... Oh, and headphones.. I like making boring things fun. I play golf when I have time and money. I like to photograph the beauty of nature; sunsets, waterfalls, mountain ranges, forests, etc. I appreciate nature and its resources. I play hacky sack sometimes. I also play soccer sometimes. I like video games, but my favorites are the old school systems; Super Nintendo primarily. I LOVE ping pong and used to be very good at it! After I play awhile, I get better (as with anything I suppose.) I enjoy shopping (sometimes a bit too much I'm afraid.) The only other interests I can think of right now are inappropriate for this site, so I will refrain from discussing them... I guess, if you would like to know something about me, just ask :)

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Music: I enjoy many various types of music. Dubstep, Drum 'n Bass, Trance, Techno, and various other genres and sub-genres of electronic dance music are my favorite type of music. But I like other high energy music as well. I like a lot of contemporary and classic rock as well as a lot of rap and hard rock. I'm basically a fan of most music that is melodic and/or makes you want to move. I'm not a fan of much country, polka, jazz, or slower stuff..

Movies: I rarely watch movies these days because they feel like a waste of time. But I enjoy comedies and action movies when I do watch them.

Books: I own a couple.. They all have dust on them. Need I say more?

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Holding my niece and nephews for the first times were the most incredible moments of my life. I love them and will always cherish them. When I have more nieces and nephews (and eventually, inevitably, children of my own), holding and loving them will be just as amazing (more amazing for my own, but that is to be expected.) Most of the most amazing experience I have ever had with nature have ironically probably been on golf courses. Discovering waterfalls was pretty amazing though, I've done that several times. Basically any time you are out in nature among the trees and the animals, enjoying its beauty, you are experiencing the world as it was intended to be experienced. I don't think I can top nature with any other event. I've never been to a concert or festival and I've never watched the birth of a baby whale, but I look forward to the opportunity to experience these things.
