About Me

CURRENT MISSION

30 countries before 30 years old

ABOUT ME

Former physics student turned into a serial traveler. I'm all about learning, and the best way to learn is to get out and meet people, see new places, do different things! Never cease to be surprised at what you can do.

It's always hard to describe yourself, and I hate doing it anyway... I think reading the references other CSers were kind enough to leave me will give you some idea of who I am.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to drink bad beer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted about 30 people over 9 months in Montreal, and I have surfed with half a dozen people over Europe.

I've been living in really unstable conditions for the past two years where hosting was impossible and surfing really hard, so it's good to get back into the couchsurfing world.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted over a dozen groups of surfers. Each time, good times were had.

Science, literature, cinema, languages. Learning. Sports. Circus stuff (juggling, object manipulation, etc.)

Music, Movies, and Books

In no particular order,

Movies: Lost in Translation, Tarantino, Christopher Nolan, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, The Boondock Saints, Secondhand Lions

Books: Italo Calvino, Jorge Luis Borges, Sherlock Holmes, Neal Stephenson, Andreï Makine. Gödel, Escher, Bach.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every sunrise on a clear day.

Overlooking the Gaspé peninsula on top of Mount Albert, while a cabal of moose are peacefully walking accross the mountaintop plain about half a kilometer behind me.

Walking on a beach in Casablanca and getting asked by a group of complete strangers to join in their friendly pickup football (soccer) game.

Mark Edwards' Hard Rain project. He travelled the world to take one picture for every line in Bob Dylan's song "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall". The song is powerful; the pictures are amazing. More info: http://www.hardrainproject.com/

Camping up a mountain in Akureyri, Iceland and waking up to see the valley covered in clouds while I had nothing but blue sky above me, with the sun shining on the mountains on the other side.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've taught a few couchsurfers the very basics of juggling. I can usually get people to juggle 3 balls after 15-45 minutes.

Other than that, I enjoy playing with basically anything that's circus related, like the diabolo, or poi, or contact staff, etc. If you play with something like that, I want to be your friend.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Morocco, Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, Togo
