About Me

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jean Paul and I've been living in Berlin for the last 4 years. I would describe myself as open and easy going person.

I have a very international family background and I've lived a very international life. When I was a kid I used to have "pen pals", all the way until the invention of the internet. Until now I keep contact with some of them! Meeting new people of different has been since very early one of my favorite things. Which is why I believe joining this website is such a great idea.

I studied Philosophy. I was a teacher of Philosophy. And came to Europe with the intention to complete my Phd Degree. But I've decided to close the books for a while. At the moment I am trying to improve my German Skills while doing some studies of Business Administration.

Things that I like include doing sports on regular bases, eating oatmeal with milk, fruits, cinnamon (or vanilla) and some honey for breakfast, and quinoa and avocados more than once a week :).

I love visiting Europe old city centers, drink a filter coffee and feel myself in a different time. I enjoy the good fiction, either watching it as a movie or reading it in a novel. There's always a novel on my night desk.

After some years in Berlin I still enjoy going out with my bike to discover the city. If you've ever visited Berlin you know how this city can surprise you even after many years of living here.

At the moment I cannot receive guests, though if you like I would be more than happy to guide you around!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Perhaps a better question would be why was I not here before. A few days ago some friends spoke about this website and their experiences traveling around europe, meeting new people, making new friendships, staying with the locals... "This is definitely for me!"- I thought.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've visited Russia. Really, that's it :).

As a kid growing up in Peru I always felt intrigued about Russia: About their strange language, about why everyone was afraid of it (at the time it was the USSR). I always saw that huge country in the map and wondered how would it be there. I guess that, as I was a kid, I got to see every Cold War movie out there...

So when I walked around the Red Square in 2013 I could barely believe my eyes. I even walked in into the Kremlin. Who would have though during the Cold War that that would have been even possible...

Traveling can be a really amazing thing.
