À propos de moi

Hello people of the world!

My name is Jean-Pierre but I welcome anyone to just stick to JP as it's much easier and much more time efficiënt. ;)
I was born in 1988, 4 years after my parents married and bought their verry own restaurant. In wich, ofcourse I grew up. Living my early life in a restaurant made me curious about food and all the aspects of it. (nutrition/preparation/where does it come from/etcetera)

At the early age of 11 I went to culinary school because I had already been helping out my dad in his kitchen and started to develop a deep love for food. I decided to also become a cook, like my dad.
After a few years I eventually got my degree as kitchen manager and went trough quite a few restaurants to learn even more. I didn't just do my job, I loved my job.

Untill, at the age of 21, I met someone that introduced me to the church she went to. It didn't take long for me to become rather interested in religion and made a decision to leave the professional kitchen (for the time being) and learn more about christianity and the impact it could potentially have on my life and others around me.

Now, 6 years later, I can say I'm what they call a "born again" christian and devote my life to the God I believe in. But there's no need to worry, I respect every one of you wether you're an atheïst, muslim, jew or whatever.
Though, truth be told: I do enjoy a good talk if you're up for it, but only if you ask me.

"But what about cooking", you may ask?

Well, let's put it this way...
I still love food and the proces it takes to make it. I have a wish to eventually travel the world with my verry own foodtruck and touch people lives with the person that I am and the food that I make. Much like the movie Chef by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), released in 2014.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

Besides the anual family trip to Spain I haven't really traveled all that much.
And since I'm still under 30, I felt like going on some adventures while I'm still young. :)

Also I like to share my house and knowledge of the area with those passing trough. I can not promise you the best couch you have ever had but I will promise you a memorable experience in the city of Eindhoven and it's surrounding area.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

I'm pretty allround in calling things my "favourite".

Movies you'll find in my collection range from despicable me to the Shawshank redemption. Basicly anything with atleast a story you feel like you can relate to in one way or another.

The same goes for my taste in music. But I find myself listening mostly to poprock of the 60's trough 80's. Some of my favourite songs are:
#In the summertime - Mungo Jerry
#Dirty Harry - Gorillaz
#Short Change Hero - The heavy
#Sweating Bullets - Megadeath
#Thunderstruck - AC/DC
#Sister Morphine - Rolling stones.

Ofcourse, the list goes on and on and on.
I just like to keep an open mind when it comes about things like food (duh), music and movies. :)

Oh, and besides my bible I don't read a whole lot. :-3

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

To be honest, most amazing things I did in my life aren't worth sharing this way as I didn't do them to feel good about but for other people to feel good about.
If you ever stay at my place or when I visit yours, feel free to ask about these things!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Get to know a person, try to feel what it's like to be that person. That's the way to teach and learn.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

My cooking skills (I'll also help do the dishes) and anything around the house that need to be done. I'm no engineer but I'm handy. :)

Pays que j'ai visités

Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Spain

Pays dans lesquels j'ai vécu
